When they say that the dude is a physical freak...they're not exaggerating. Dude is a freakish human speciman!
There is obviously a huge amount of hype in sport, but when people call Lesnar a generic freak it is no exaggeration. Those stats were taken shortly after he finished pro-wrestling, which has punishing touring schedule and a demand for unnecessary muscle mass. Think what they would be if he had been training full time as an athlete since college, as opposed to an actor/stuntman.
The reason that I posted this was as a reminder to Brock detractors that he is indeed an exceptional athlete. And it's not a knock against the sport of MMA that he was able to find success so quickly. He's not your average Joe like that plumber that McCain fell in love with.
Imagine if Brock had started his training for mixed martial arts in 2001 after he won the NCAA title, and then debuted in 2002 instead of 2007. :think
How do his stats compare to other NFL guys, or Goldberg or some of those other ginormous WWE dudes, or Bob Sapp etc? Know of lots of powerliters and olimpics lifters that are very quick over a short distance and jump like an NBA player. Is Brock really such a freak, or is the UFC's 265lbs limit making him look like more of a freak than he really is?
I've seen enough footage of Bob Sapp to know that he isn't going to be breaking any speed records for a sizable man anytime soon. As far as comparing it to other notable NFL players, the quote that I posted does just that. Someone like Goldberg, I don't know that he has ever been subjected to such testing. I doubt that he has unless he too was trying out for football.
They were very good numbers for an NFL player. Bob Sapp has nothing to offer even close. Brock's just a freak. To put it in perspective, he is faster over 40 yards than LeBron James.
Everyone knows that Brock has more athleticsm in his right thigh than the whole UFC roster combined. Its the way he got the title shot because he is Brock Lesnar that grates on people.
I don't agree with that at all. It's a catch 22. You either give him a real challenge right away which is more entertaining for the fans (but not necessarily fair) or you do the boxing thing and waste many years having him fight nobodies as a lead-up to something substantial. I think of it as an advanced placement program. In school we often allow the more intellectually gifted students to progress ahead of the crowd instead of wasting their time with material that they've already mastered.
brock is a hell of a athlete, and like one of the posters before me what if he was training in mma instead of venturing to pro wrestling. How much better would he be?Just imagine if he sticks with this and gives his full dedication for the long run imagine what he can acomplish in this sport, the sky is the limit for brock and im enjoying the career sucess he has had so far
