Maidana challenges Khan to a Winner-Take-All fight.

Also de la Hoya got the paydays because people wanted to see him. It would be extremely harsh to say "Yeah well all these people came to see you, and all these people paid for PPVs to see you, but I'm afraid that guy who beat you middle aged body around gets all of the money -you- generated. Maidana's being a moron. This is NOT a purse issue. Khan is GUARANTEED a million pounds for each of his three fights with Golden Boy.

It's a contractual issue.

There is not enough money.

He's not fighting with Khan, he is fighting with Golden Boy/HBO/Sky Sports' share of the money.

 

I read on a YT comment that his brother had somehow fleeced him off all his money? No idea if this true, and if it is I'd have no idea where to read about it, but if he's returning because of that its definitely a shame. The guy was a warrior who deserved every second of his retirement.

Maidana's not only the challenger, but he's also the lesser attraction. So it's about time he begun acting like one. A Khan fight will give him the biggest payday possible. I'd like to see him try hitting the same figures against Alexander or Bradley.

After Amir Khan’s ridiculous demands have frustrated all the efforts to reach an agreement and especially since he is tired of all the lies that Khan himself and his team have told to the media and boxing fans in the last few weeks, last night Marcos Maidana requested the World Boxing Association (WBA) to immediately call the fight to a Purse Bid.

“I got fed up with this Twitter-star. He is the biggest liar and coward I’ve ever seen. He said I was asking too much money for the fight. False. But if he has a problem with the money, I challenge him to make a winner-takes-it-all bout. But that’s not his real problem. You wanna hear the latest news from him? Now he says I’m not his mandatory! So his lawyers are trying to get a way out of the fight with me,” Maidana said.

“I’ve asked my team to proceed with the request for the WBA to call the fight to a Purse Bid. Once the Purse Bid has a winner the fight has to be made. Then we’ll see who is lying here. Let’s see for real who wants to fight and who does not. Trust me, Amir Con would relinquish his title rather than face me, “El Chino” added.

 

I honestly think Kahn and GBP want no part of Madaina and are becoming like the other promoters. I used to gravitate towards GBP cards because they put on good, clean fights. Now, they have hometown judges (Diaz fights) and are tying to weasel out of a mandatory.

It CANNOT be a purse split issue as Maidana is ASKING for 1 million pounds GUARANTEED, which is the same amount that Golden Boy is CONTRACTUALLY guaranteed to pay Khan for 3 fights with them.

There isn't enough money.

 

Clearly they(GBP) have never witnesses such a bad chin until Khan came along.
