Who out there would "SUPPORT" the use of Gatorade in the corner of a pro fight?

Doesn't seem like a big deal except for the concern that pure water would be easier to test for banned substances then Gatorade.

Right now, is the water used by corners tested in sanctioned fights?

No... Didn't know that... Also, I've never seen it used in the corner.... Interesting......

California has balked on the use of "The Gator" in pro fights..... Fernando Vargas wanted some in his corner for his fight with Rico Mayo back in 2007, but was declined by the commission...

Now that I think of it, I have seen Gatorade cup holders and containers in the corner before, but that doesn't mean Gatorade is in the bottles being used... They can and are still filled with H20 if the commission sqwacks about Gatorade.... I'm not sure if its against the rules to advertise Gatorade.?.? I'd think not, since fighters today come into the ring with ink written all over their backs advertising all kinds of nonsense and ****....

Because its sticky and if its spilled by the corner it could reduce chances of someone slipping and becoming injured and unable to fight.

This was played out in the Vargas vs Mosley II fight.

I heard they did this in the old days. No idea if there is any truth to it though

They do have spill-proof bottles to squirt juice outta.... Women use these bottles at home with kids.... And no trainer is gonna squirt Gatorade all over his boys head in a fight.... A water bucket will spill here and there; not a spill-proof Gatorade bottle....

Allowing fighters to use sports drinks such as Gatorade and Powerade -- which are supposed to rehydrate athletes better than water -- was one of several rules changes adopted by the Nevada Athletic Commission in response to a recent report from the five-member Advisory Committee on Boxer Health and Safety. That was in 2006. I think it's a great idea.

Yeah it was one of the rules they changed after Levander Johnson passed away. Atthe same time they changed the glove size requirments for fighters over 135 pounds.

But the same applies in tennis and other sports where it is allowed. So why not in boxing?

So only in Nevada. Any ''proof'' of a boxer who has actually used it during a fight?
