Wlad and Vitali are too polite and respectful for a lot of boxing fans

The majority of americans (which are white) think the best athletes should always be black?:nut

Mmmmm, I don't agree at all. It's not that simple. Where are you from? Because it doesn't sound like you have the best perspective of America.

Yes, maybe that is one of the reasons. But i think its their fight style that gives them most hate.

i too think that ethnicy...well maybe not so much ethnicy, but nationality plays a role. if the klits were americans, even better white rather than black***, america would vote them both for president. everyone would forget about ali and marciano, they would be the best thing since sliced bread because theyre dominating the sport together at the same time, making everyone else look ridiculous, theyre both doctors, theyre clean livers, great role models and have come back from setbacks.

but since theyre europeans, you know, from the old world, they have that boring european style in the ring and theyre so boring european mannered, that they just suck.

***i dont think white is better than black or vice versa, to make it clear

I do think that 95% of Hattons most beloved fans was british;)
And in Ukraine i doubt the Klitschkos get much hate either.

There is a very silent and unspoken belief. I've seen it and experienced it. In college, blacks always got the nod before whites in just about every sport. And if you happened to be hispanic, it was even worse for you because basically you got ignored. I saw white kids who could outrun black kids get alternate spots in track. I saw hispanic kids who could outrun both blacks and whites get ignored. But worst of all, native american kids got the absolute shortest end of the stick. Those poor guys wouldn't even get acknowledged as being in the presence of the coach. Yet, the real world is so ironic. Hispanics have the highest percentage of recipients of the medal of honor above all other racial/ethnic groups in the military, and native Americans are the most highly sought after ethnic group for army special forces and rangers.

Is Manny Pacquiao acting like a thug ?

Was Evander Holyfield a big thug ?

At the end of the day, what counts more is how you perform in the ring, against whom and how often !

Guys that fight like warriors, try to fight the best possible known challenges and do it fairly often enough, will always be liked and followed by casual fans, not only their fans !!

In the Klitschko case with them being heavyweights, especially Wlad since Steward started training him, the problem is their safety first approach in the ring. If they would only look to throw bombs from the start, they'd get a **** load of followers everywhere !! On the other hand, if they were American, they'd be much bigger stars in the US...white or black.

Are you really trying to imply that there is some type of affirmative action in collegiate sports being implemented in favor of black athletes? Are you really that ****ing ******ed?? Listen, college sports is a multi- billion dollar empire. They're in the business of making money, not satisfying some quota. If just happen to be the best athletes at this present time in the two most popular college sports(basketball and football) are black. We can debate the reasoning behind but it is what it is.

I agree. If they were American, most American fans would embrace them. Ditto UK fans.

Nationalism is the last refuge of a scoundrel. I don't care where a fighter is from.

I agree, they get a bum rap in the US because:

    1. They are not American, and don't try to be.

    2. They are completely dominating due to size and skill, the HW division. Its not even competitive.

    3. They are not "loose cannon" fighters who go balls out. They fight a tactical fight, low risk for themselves, but always get the W. Everyone wants to see a fighter who goes balls out, takes chances, lets his hands go.

    4. They are white. I agree, this is part of it.

    5. The make everyone aware that there are too many sanctioning bodies. Casual fans are like "Wlad is the champ? I thought Vitali was the champ? They are both the champ? How does that work? It makes boxing seem cheesy and convoluted.

    6. They are intelligent, articulate, white white white. It shows that the "blacks are superior athletes" theory is nonsense. Here two of the whitest *******s walking are stomping mudholes in all comers.

of course their style is not most exiting but they do have high KO%. So boring style does play a role but I could easily see American fans overlooking that and still making him really popular if he was American. Instead of " He is the most explosive man to ever step in the ring" people would praise him with something like " He is calculated, brilliant athlete that always executes his plan". So many people got on Micheal Phelps bang wagon even though swimming is only little more exiting than watching online chest between chimps. i love to swim but don't tell that its exiting to watch. Soccer is not popular in US at all but I never heard so many people telling me that they watched it after US did semi good at world cup.

The American sports media bigwigs are largely products of the 60s, and they are largely in thrall to 60s ideas of political correctness, including the idea (actually a rather racist one) that the black man is a sports ubermensch. Burt Sugar is one fine example of that in boxing. It's a ****ed up mentality, but as you say, it is what it is.
