Here's what his peers have to say about him: Evander Holyfield: "Holy Jesus, Cooper hit harder than Tyson, it was the first time I ever feared for my life in the ring. " Michael Moorer: "I just gassed against Foreman, man was lucky. Now Smokin Bert Cooper was a real puncher." Mike Tyson: "I told Don King, **** you, you fight him if you love him so much." George Foreman: "I was terrified...everywhere he hit you, it hurt you." Riddick Bowe: "It hurt just to look at him." Ray Mercer: "Its was the closest I ever came to dying in the ring..."
Yep, you doubt the power of Smokin Bert? Corrie Sanders also said he hit harder than Rahman and Vitali, that Lennox Lewis must have been some kind of *****. You know, Cooper might have been the only power puncher Lewis avoided.
He Grant isn't qualified to make any statements as far as I'm concerned - he thinks Tommy Hurricaine Jackson was a hard puncher!!?? Call yourself a historian - you're a joke - the only thing the holyfield fight proved is that Cooper was only a 3rd rate fighter (aswell as a third choice opponent behind Tyson, and the ATG Francesco Damiani) - a BIG TIME BANGER he definately was not!!
yeah right!!?? You give me some sources - they sound like you've lifted some totally unrelated quotes and rubbed out someone elses name and stuck Coopers in there - I've definately heard some of those quotes before - they're not about Cooper that's for sure
Boy, you sure are ****ing funny. You should take that show on the road, be a little more useful then it is here. As in, totally irrelevant and worthless. :-(
very good point that he could have been a better cruiser. and his fight with holy is in my top 10 favourites of all time. both put on amazing performances and displays of heart
OBCboxer begs to differ. And yes, I feel my post is urgently relevant in a "diss" thread started from a misquote. **** such as this has no place in Classic, might as well have a chuckle...eh? NOW LAUGH YOU MOTHER****ER, LAUGH!!! This content is protected
I really don't have to say a thing .... you're another keyboard loudmouth who knows nothing about the sport. Keep spewing your stupidity ... :good
He was a cruiser when he broke into the national spotlight by whipping Henry Tillman's ass on national television ... That was his weight ... he moved up as he lost control of his career ..
oh for sure. that was his prime weight but he is best remembered for being the best heavyweight punching bag of the 90s. if he had stuck at cruiser, who knows
