I'd love him to beat a euro bum champ who defends non-stop in remote eastern block states

That is certainly a fight Golden Boy should look for, however I expect at least 2 interim bouts before taking such step. Canelo has a pretty good team behind him and they won't let GBP rush him into anything. Zaveck might be a winnable fight right now, but a top level mandatory could come up a bit too early. Many questions will be answered by the time the Baldomir fight is over, as Carlos is by very far the biggest challenge of young Alvarez' career, and Canelo will be tested.

Golden boy would not go for such a bum unrecognized person...

They are now starting to move him up..

Cotto's brother> Baldomir> Someone more known for sure!

God, you guys probably haven´t even seen Zaveck fight. The only guys I would make a fav over him at the moment are Pac and Floyd. He is at least 50/50 against Mosley, Berto and the lot at the moment.

Slovenia was never a part of the Eastern Bloc.

    And Zaveck is quite good.

he needs to fight a live opponent.

so far he has beaten a young prospect. which is good.

beaten a bloated contender. which is good.

and will probably beat a former champ. which is good.

next up should be a top 10 opponent, at WW-LMW he should be looking at the likes of collazo, aydin, angulo, clottey etc.

he could be fighting for a title next year tho.

I have seen Zaveck fight, and versus Alvarez would be close, but I cant believe youd only favor Pac and Floyd over him :huh

good calls on collazo, clottey, etc, but angulo would be abit too dangerous for canelo. both are strong and can fight, but I think angulo is too much for canelo at this point. maybe in 2-3 yrs. when he reaches his prime.

So, you base all your assumptions on one fight? :rofl

A guy who has 20 rounds stamina, with a high workrate, decent hand and footspeed, a decent defense, good power who never tasted the canvas is dangerous for everyone in the division. And too much for most of them. Pac and May are at least one class above him, however, nobody else in the division is thus he is at least 50/50 against them.
