Damn, Salido was 138lbs at the Saturday weigh-in, Gamboa is fighting a light-welterweight.

He's going to be getting stripped of IBF title for being too heavy!

That rule is stupid. If one makes the weight at at the weigh-in, that's final. I am sure Gamboa is weighing near 136lb's anyway. Salido is a tough guy that learned on the job and it's quite clear hardly any of you have seen him fight. (If you notice, he hasn't had a clear loss since Marquez beat him six years ago). I predict Gamboa to win, but Salido will give him a fight.

It is a pro-health rule, I believe made after Leavander Johnson tragically passed away following his IBF title fight. Johnson reportedly gained a lot of weight overnight. Growing 10% in size in less than 24 hours has critical physiological effects, the skull becomes softer and more vulnerable to damage.

Now the logical question is: how's stripping Salido but letting him fight is helping his health?

Ive seen Salido fight several times and hes always shown a good chin against good punchers. His last ko loss was 10 years ago when he was just a novice, Like alot of Mexican fighters he doesnt have a big amatuer background so alot of his losses were learning his trade on the job. Much better fighter than his record indicates. He also has kod and took good shots from Lw a division he fought at for many fights as while as well as Jl. I dont expect him to win but im giving him a better shot than most. Hes definitely not a pushover and by far this is Gamboas toughest opponent he has faced.

If this ends in a quick KO we might get to see Matt Korobov! :happy

Better yet, we'll get to measure him up against an opponent in common with Gennady Golovkin. :good
