If you know domestic violence, women usually recant their accusation. Battered women have low self esteem and have the tendency to blame themselves that such incident happened. However, basing on history, Gayweather had been involved in 3 known (meaning those that have police blotter). One incident would probably be an anomaly, a false accusation. But 3 episodes, there must be something to it. Remember that for every 1 reported incident of women violence, about 10 other incidents would be unreported.

She may have recanted her statement based on financial gain and not necessarily fear, or any other cookie treats. 500,000 dollars and anybody would willingly recant. Most high profile athletes tecnd to settle rather than have a negative publicity backlash.
