I am proud of him and happy for his team and family. I am glad that his Dad Manuel Rios, his Mom and brother Antonio "Tony" were there in Vegas to watch the fight.
This guy reminds me a lot of Vargas. Young, Mexican-American, hard-hitting can brawl and box. He also has a badass persona about him. Im really looking forward to him getting his shot at the elites in the future. Im already pumped for either a Soto or an Ortiz match-up.
He was on his way to either a wide decision win or a late KO over Peterson but he got hit in the nuts about half a dozen times and Peterson got disqualified.
Rios won by DQ. Too many low blow punches from Peterson, he was taking a beating and was looking for a way out. Peterson was well on his way of getting KO'd and took the easy way out since his corner didnt want to do it for him.
wow!! sucks if you betted on this fight. thanks for the update guys.. just got home from work. missed it.
The style of Rios is like Corrales and Margo. Relies on chin too much. At some point they will find someone who will outbox them.
:huh Sorry, but this is a terrible post if you saw tonight's fight. If you didn't, you should. Anthony Peterson outboxed him for the first round. Then Rios adapted, and dominated. Also, for someone of his style offensively, he showed very good defense in the later rounds against an accurate counterpuncher.
Wow Vargas is so underrated these days. That comparison is a joke. Vargas was so much better of a techncian then Rios its not even funny. I mean Rios is a good fighter, but lets not go overboard. 10 years ago Vargas was a legit top 10 P4Pder.
