    Lopez will knock Gamboa out!

Gamboa should have been disqualified tonight. Abraham was disq because he hit Dirrell while down. Gamboa not only hit his opponent while he was down, he hit his behind the head! Why double standard? Hitting while down = illegal Hitting behind the head = illegal!

Why such a double standard? Salido should have taken acting lessons from Dirrell. This was worse than what Abraham did.

It looks like Gamboa has been trying to wear a new suit tailormade for him by his trainer and his advisers, but it feels so restrictive and unnatural for Gamboa that he chucks it in favor of his sloppy T-shirt and jeans during crunch time.

When he chucks it, his offense is smoother but his defense suffers. At 28, he's an old dog that doesn't learn new tricks easily.

this matchup wasnt good for Gamboa's style and offense. I think this is the first durable pressure fighter he's had to deal with. Ive never seen Gamboa dance and back up as much in anyother fight. Pressure fighters ALWAYS come forward, so only in spots Gamboa was able to settle down and drop down power. Otherwise, he was punching off his heels alot.

I looked at Salido's loss record. Looks like he got ko/tko'd early in his career, due to tough matching. His 3 later losses were all decisions. A very durable fighter.

Gamboa obviously got retrained to survive A class fighters, which is the right thing. Yes, that may diminish is offensive output somewhat, but it will more mitigate damage and possible flash KD's.

Head to head w/ Lopez.... i have to give Lopez the slight advantage, purely on professional ring experience. Otherwise, i have both fighters at an A+ class level....

Unfortunately, it seems that Gamboa was almost undone by the battle hardened Salido.

Essentially, JuanMa is a much better version of Salido. what he lacks in terms of a chin, he more than makes up for in Power.

Gamboa might be able to knock down Lopez..

But to assume that JuanMa wouldn't be able to knock down Gamboa, while Salido landed with such frequency on Gamboa and even knocked down Gamboa... is pure naivety or simple denial.

Lopez hits harder than Salido. Fact.

This spells trouble for the leaky defensed cuban.

I respect his offensive arsenal, but Gamboa is a ticking time bomb waiting to be put on ***** street. Even though he won most rounds, he was hit way too frequently by a much inferior and slower opponent. Kellerman was way off comparing YG to Pac, but I feel he was on the mark with the Hamed comparison. If YG's defence doesn't improve, he is headed down the latter's path.

I would argue that Salido and Juanma are more different than alike. Salido relies on his experience and chin, while Juanma is much more vulnerable due to his lesser experience, chin problems, and lack of toughness, albeit he has a stronger punch. I still favor Gamboa to beat Juanma.

its almost really a 50/50 in my book between JM/Yuri. JM's got ridiculous and sick timing with his left bomb though.... it couldnt miss Concepcion. I think JM's ol' 1-2 will be the key to dropping Gamboa. I think he has a better chance KO'ing Gamboa than vice versa. Honestly, i really like Gamboa better, but imo JM has the edge in professional experience and his left powershot is VERY consistent

  12. Gamboa looked good against Mtagwa. He's overrated.

gamboa impressed me early in the fight. he was using his speed on the outside and smothering when salido was able to close the distance. he seemed to give in to the pressure in the middle of the fight and began looking like andre berto except with less strength. he was eventually able to utilize his speed on the inside to win the fight, and the cut from the headbutt did a lot to neutralize salido as well. gamboa has tons of potential, but he needs to gain more discipline. use jabs more, stop squaring up, throw combinations and get out, and try ducking more. but he's very good and has the physical tools to make up for his technical flaws.
