Wlad has boxed 273 rounds as a pro. Haye has 99 pro rounds to his name, only 26 of those at HW. Based on how Haye has been in trouble against CWs and former SMWs Haye would have multiple losses and a couple dozen knockdowns had he fought the HW opposition Wlad has faced. Haye knows he isn't built to last at HW. That's why he keeps reiterating how he "doesn't see himself defending his belt against a series of mandatory contenders" and just wants to "retire before he's 31". Haye knows sooner or later he'll be exposed at HW.
Even Ruiz got to him on multiple occasions. He stopped Haye and sent him to the ropes. It wasn´t anything devastating. The problem with Haye is his lackluster defence.
I think Haye was weight drained at Cruiser and that was what made him gas and be suseptable to gettin the old jelly legs. A move up would of done him some good but hes just got an average chin, not poor but not good.
Wlad has a below average chin but he leaned how to avoid being hit flush on the chin and doesn't leave himself wide open. His defense is much improved. Haye on the other hand has a similarly below average chin but his defense is pure crap. He leaves himself wide open which allows even the 40 year old nobodies he's fighting at HW to find his chin every now and then. Haye's garbage chin wouldn't be such a big issue at HW if he knew how to avoid being hit. But he doesn't. In fact Haye's style and defense hasn't changed at all since the amateur days. He boxes the same wide-open style, zero improvement. I think for Booth and Haye the Ruiz fight was a big eye opener and wake-up call. If a 38 year old Ruiz can find Haye's chin what will a prime Wlad to do him. Both and Haye got the message loud and clear and acted accordingly. They ran.
Haye knows he hasn't a hope in hell of beating either Klitschko. He's stalling hoping someone else knocks them off their perch or that they retire.Fraud is the most over used word on these boards and i've never used it to describe any fighter, but Haye is coming very close.
I think it all stems back from his young amateur days during sparring sessions. Think the england boxing team used to all rip him about being chinny, personally i dont think it really matters at HW. If a big lump of a fighter lands clean on your chin its lights out regardless!!
The opinion is typically based on the fact that Haye has admitted that he does have a weak chin. He said it after the Barrett fight and several other times. But the truth is that we really don't know, especially at heavyweight. Haye has clearly been shying away from heavy hitters ever since he stepped up. Now he's fighting Audley. And in spite of a lucky ko punch against Sprout, Audley is not a huge puncher.
And counting? Well, you've obviously be counting for a very long time, since Wlad hasn't tasted canvas in 5 years. atsch
concerning the ruiz issue - he couldn't do any sparring for that fight, that's why he looked a little sluggish.he looked much better in his fight before that, against valuev.we're gonna see haye back to his best when he steps into the ring with harrison. concerning the chin issue - it's not that great is it?.. but then again, it's not as bad as some posters are saying.
Monte Barrett caught him flush full force (illegally) whilst he was on the floor and he still got up and destroyed him. Must account for something...?
So he looked sluggish against a 38 year old Ruiz but he looked "fast" and agile against 7"8 Chewbacca? What does that tell you about Haye's defense and reflexes? His speed and reflexes are in between a washed-up Ruiz and a slow-motion circus freak Valuev. Let's face it. When entering the division Booth and Haye thought he has the defense and reflexes to avoid getting hit entirely at HW and this illusion has been destroyed. It is not a coincidence Haye is carefully handpicking old, over-the-hill guys with deteriorating speed and accuracy at HW.
