Paul Williams vs Sergio Martinez II (November 20)

You're not the only one. It was an extremely close fight and I had PW by 1 point. Wouldn't have disapointed if it went either way. The problem today is that any close fight is viewed as a robbery by fans of the fighter who didn't win

 

I probably give Williams more chance than Williams himself.

 

Martinez and diBella did everything they could to avoid Paul Williams. None of your off topic vitriolic venom will ever change that.

 

I hope Martinez can actually get a decision to go his way for once.

So evenly matched I can't vote. Will root for Paul Williams though.

 

I had a similar situation. I had Martinez ahead, but it was so close that I really woulddn't have minded who got the decision. Don't even know who to pick for the rematch.

Pavlik fought an old former welterweight and got his ass whooped. Wasn't Espino a welterweight on the Contender? Didn't Taylor defend his title against three former welterweights/junior middles in a row?

you and your Pavlik posse played a huge part in me wanting pavlik to get beat in that Martinez fight, that says a lot because i consider myself quite fond of Both fighters.

Martinez by decision. Hope he dont slow down as much this time. He even slowed down against Pavlik in the late rounds. Concerned about the 35 year olds stamina. Will be a memorable fight.

Martinez beat Palvik.

I think both will come in better than last time; which is obviously saying something as their first match was pretty great.

I had Williams winning the first fight, not by a huge margin, but I still thought he won it. If his Quintana rematch is any indication he may be another Joe Lewis when it comes to rematches (always doing better the second time around). I also feel like Paul is a good fighter in his current form, but has many ways in which he could become much better (utilizing his rangy arms would be a good idea).

Martinez on the other hand will have a full training camp as well as the knowledge that he can hang with Paul Williams. Not to mention the career momentum he has gained recently, that could be a big confidence booster.

So who do I think is going to win?

Well honestly I think it is a real toss-up; either could take the rematch. However, I will go with Paul Williams.

Why? Because I am really sick of the hyperbolic statements of Matinez being "robbed" in the first match and I want to see all the people making those statements humbled.

Either fighter could have taken the first match, there were enough close rounds that it could have gone either way.

If you think Martinez was robbed then you either are unaware as to what constitutes being robbed, are too emotionally attached to Martinez to be impartial or are unable to accurately score boxing matches due to a lack of knowledge of the sport...

It's cool if you thought Martinez won. However, in no way, shape or form was he robbed.

Sorry I got a little off track...

Either way it will be a great match; I am looking forward to it.

 

if you watched the cintron fight you would notice martinez TKO"d him and still got a draw.
