Props to Rios put on a great show I thought in all honesty he was over matched that Peterson would be too big or too much of a step up in class for him and I was way off the mark... However during the post fight interview it just seemed to me that Peterson was not there at all.... when asked questions he looked as if he was confused didnt know how the pace of the fight was etc... Now note he only put on four pounds after the weigh in... in which Rios went up to 151 I really do not beleive that Peterson hydrated himself going in to this fight maybe I am wrong but IMO when you strip yourself down to make weight especially if you have struggled to make the weight, usally after rehyrdating you put on about ten pounds... this wasnt teh case here and perhaps Peterson just over trained for this fight or has been having trouble with making the weight..... all i Know is that I expected so much more from Peterson and we did have a good fight but I just dont feel like he made the weight comfortable
This is as simple as Rios just being the superior fighter. They could fight 5 more times and Rios would whup him every time. He would knock him out in the rematch.
I agree completely. Every time somebody loses there is always someone who claims that the fighter was weight drained or they overtrained. Sometimes that is the case, but in this fight, Rios was just too much for him.
Peterson was just trying to cope with his lost. What do you expect? The man would rather be DQ'd than be beaten convincingly.
Peterson just doesnt know how to jab.The dude has long arms and great reach and elected trade inside against Rios.Horrible plan. You dont go that way against a mexican. His trainer could love him as a father but didnt teach him the basics, that's fpr sure.Besides i dont think Peterson hits that hard,he connected a few times and Rios didnt seem to care much.
It's called ring generalship. Imposing your will on the other man. Dictating the style, and pace of the fight. Rios pulled Peterson's card. Rios came to fight, and Peterson was too proud to stick with his game plan and box. It turned into a fight (the way Rios wanted it to) and Peterson couldn't hang. He got put on his ass, and resorted to doing dirt. Rios was the better man, plain and simple.
WTF @ 151. That's ridiculous. I'm slowly becoming more a fan of amateur boxing. Just wish they'd come up with a better scoring system.
if Rios had lost you could say he drained too much to make the weight and it slowed him down. So it goes both ways
He seemed to be using his jab well in the 1st round. Peterson has ok power, Rios just has a good chin. I think you will see that in his upcoming fights.
well, the ESB crew already done a good enuf job putting you back into reality.... Two key but flawed words thats in this thread from you..... EXCUSE & EXPECT Excuse is self-explanatory - having to make an "excuse" for another's performance just shows desperation and being an extreme fan Expect - Its alright to Expect, but dont mix that up with Absolution. There is room for failure in expectations. There's not in absolution. When there is failure in that frame of thought, denial comes into play. And thats what i see here...
yep - anthony bailed himself out, he knew they were going down that route.... he under-estimated Rios' power and tried to beat him in his own game. And after he survived a prolonged rocking, he was a changed fighter. This fight should permanently change Anthony's career, whether confidence-wise or progression-wise....
