Oh I see. Never really seen the point of looking at things like that. My resume doesn't include jobs that I applied for and completely fluffed the interview...

    Cotto.

Hatton, Marquez and Mitchell weren't legitimate Welterweights (although Hatton and Mitchell had at least 1 bout up at 147lbs before that).

    Cotto, without a doubt.

Mayweather's only win of any real value at welterweight is Shane Mosley... and Cotto beat a better version of Mosley.

    End of discussion.

Are you suggesting that Baldomir is heads and shoulders above Clottey, Gomez and Quintana? :patsch :huh

Or are you going to say what you meant is resume as a whole? :-(

Yes, it's not even close...but it's Cotto's resume that is miles ahead. :nono

Are people really counting the likes of Gomez and Urkal as positives?

Quite funny seeing suggestions that it's one sided one way or the other, when the two most accomplished welterweights either has beaten are common names.

Lets do this - take out Mosley and Judah (I'll accept for the purposes of discussion that Mayweather beat a slightly better version of Judah and Cotto a better version of Mosley but a lot less comprehensively).

Take out anyone who has never won a world title at welterweight - bye bye Mitchell, Urkal, Marquez, Jennings and Gomez.

So it comes down to who you like best out of Hatton and Baldomir v Clottey and Quintana.

One thing it's not is obvious either way.

    I disagree.

The Mosley of the Mayweather fight in 2010 was far more declined from the Mosley of the Cotto fight in 2007 than Zab Judah was declined from the Mayweather fight in 2006 to the Cotto fight 14 months later.

When Mosley fought Cotto, he was 36 and was fiercely competitive for 12 fast-paced rounds.

When Mosley fought Mayweather, he was closing in on 39 years of age, and was patently gassed out from about round 2 or 3 onwards.

When Judah fought Mayweather, he was 29 and coming off a defeat to Baldomir.

When Judah fought Cotto, he was 30.

I don't really see any justification for saying that the Judah who fought Cotto was any different at all from the Judah who fought Mayweather; whereas it was unquestionably a declined version of Mosley who fought Floyd.

And also, I think Clottey is a better welterweight than either Hatton or Baldomir, and I think Quintana is better than both of them as well, though not as clearly as Clottey is.

Whichever way you look at this, Cotto has fought and beaten a higher calibre of comp than Floyd has at 147.
