It's called a gameplan! And it worked! Every time I watch David Haye I feel he improves considerably. Hes getting much better at thinking his way through fights and his discipline (at least from Ruiz and Valuev) was great to see. Ok, he stunk the place out against Valuev but he figured out a plan and saw it through 12 rounds to win (and comfortably IMO). Sometimes you just do what you have to to get the 'W' (and occasionally the Heavyweight Championship of The World). Also.. You can say a lot about Valuev but to the best of my knowledge in 50+ fights hes never been down (in fact Haye was the closest to dropping him in the 12th) as compared to Wlad who has been KO'd 3x and been down god knows how many times. Their relative chins are in no way comparable. So please, lets keep this sensible!!!
Yes. Styles make fights - cliché but true. Haye is faster and more destructive than Wlad or Vitali (who beat Sam faster and was the first to stop him). He will land early, hard, from unexpected angles and take him out. Wlad comes at you through the front door. Peter never got hit with a shot he didn't see coming UNTIL the left hooks followed the straight right. That was what finished him. Haye would be throwing those sort of shots from the get go.
You've missed the point entirely.:roll: Let's try again: Given the fact that Haye felt the need to stink the place out in order to get a win over one of the worst heavyweight champions in history, what would point to the fact that he feels he could take the fight to Wlad? I can only re-iterate my initial point: Haye has to do it early, because Wlad will land the jab cross and it will be lights out.
or it might be that Valuev presents different challenges to Wlad... He's taller, bigger and Haye probably wanted to avoid clinches. Plus he broke his hand early and needed to change tactics.
Peter can take Hayes power.Haye cant take Peters. Haye has to get inside of Wlad to land,to do that hes going to have to eat leather...he cant take the shots Sam Peter took.
Haye's too fast for wlad. I'd say that haye ko's him within 3 rounds. It would look like when sanders blasted him out, yet only worse.
I see what you are trying to say, I just disagree. I think he looked at Valuev and thought "This guy has never been knocked out. I could knock him out (and possibly get caught myself trying) or I definately can use my speed to hit and run to a relatively easy UD. Like I said, I think its a smart way to fight. He's showed us in the past he can brawl if he wants to. Hes also shown us he can knock people out with every shot in the book. This is obviously a completely different proposition and I wouldn't even like to say what I think he needs to do (aside from obviously avoid the jab). I don't necessarily think he will definately win but given the relative styles, weaknesses and his undeniably explosive nature I think he has the mother of all punchers chances here.
OK. Wlad is much taller than Haye, and has a reach advantage and is also just as likely to clinch as Valuev. Wlad is also faster than Valuev. What do you think Haye's gameplan is going to be?
Itll be hit and run, but it wont be stay away tactics. The trick is to get under Wlads jab which is massively difficult in itself. But Wlad isnt the same mass as a 7ft giant, and I dont think Wlads got the chin that Valuev does. Hes just as unhappy trading. I still see Wlad winning a mid-rounds KO, but Haye has the tools to at least make it exciting until one of them lands.
I just cant see Haye getting past the jab and getting inside to throw the bombs....if Haye had a great chin then he would have a much bigger chance but I just cant see it. That jab is pretty brutal when its constantly landing and when he sticks the left glove on the opponents forehead and then slams the right hand in I think will be way too much for Haye. I think he will be stopped in 5 rds.
And how is running around the ring going to beat Vitali? I'm not a fan of the older Klitschko in the slightest, I think he's beatable. But if Haye throws the same amount of punches against Vitali as he threw against Valuev, he's not coming away with the win.
When has Wlad ever been KO'd by one punch? And he's been hit by the likes of Sanders and Peter. Who might, just might, have bigger brute one-punch power than Haye. The chances of Haye landing that shot before he gets his own chin checked are very, very slim.
Haye needs to land something and then pile it on i dont think he can clean knock him out Wlad has got up when he has been knocked down he is usually done by the accumulation and its tko'd as he struggles to his feet
