I know Wlad gets a lot of stock when his fights descend into hugging and mauling, which I also hate, but I can't blame Wlad. He is always involved in scrappy fights but the majority of the holding doesn't come from him. Against Peter, it was rarely Wlad who initiated it and the reason it was so common, was because Peter has absolutely nothing on the inside and had to hold. That's the same with a lot of fighters; They get beaten on the outside but can't fight on the inside, so have to hold. It's not Wlad's fault though, unless you blame him because he's so dominant on the outside. Anyway, very good performance from him again. These poor fights may affect his legacy with fans but he would be a very formidable opponent for the best boxers at heavyweight, such as Ali, Holmes, Louis and so on. Great to see him back in dominant fashion.
Sure you can blame him, half the time it's his fault for not not being more aggressive, the other half is the opponents fault for going into a defensive shell or letting him hold them. It's also his fault that the majority of his wins are by KO. Anyone slagging him for it can either stop watching, or keep watching and accept the fact that he does it and successfully defends his belt. His obligation is to win. We can choose to watch or not watch. And we can blame him for it as well, since, as pointed out, half of it is his fault.
You can rationalize it in any way you want, but the bottom line is that he is absolutely awful to watch. Wlad is a great fighter, he is very effective, but I detest his fighting style and his fights.
You say we can either stop watching or keep watching but when HBO drop him for putting on boring fights then K2 fans started screaming this isn't fair he isn't boring and things of that nature well using your logic above the theory from K2 fans should have been HBO can either air his fights or don't air them instead of trying to defend the fact that he is a boring fighter.
No, it means the K2 fans should have started a campaign to show HBO how much support they have. His excitment or lack thereof would mean nothing if HBO thought they could get more viewers watching them. All HBO should be concerned with is numbers. Let the fans decide what is exciting.
As opposed to the exciting way Hopkins fights....................:rofl Get the **** outta here. :rofl
It's unquestionably Wladimir's fault either partially or entirely. Wladimir didn't kick ass in the 10th because Peter forgot how to clinch.
So.........Wlad's boring fights (which lately is all of them), are all the fault of his opponents and not to do with him? There's only one common factor in all those fights.......Wlad.
It's at least partially his fault. Wlad looked much more impressive in the last few rounds when he was consciously avoiding clinches. I'm not saying he should avoid clinches altogether, I'm fine with the first few rounds as long as he make more effort to disengage and work-out of the clinch in the later rounds. In fact if he'd just work a little harder in the clinch in the early rounds those wouldn't be as tedious either.
No it was because Peter was barely standing and he was completely gassed. That's why Wlad could take him out.
Vlad is business 1st entertain 2nd. He sticks to his boring but secure style intil he feels like he has broken his man and then starts to open up. It is boring but its his parogative and i cant blame him for it, he treats it as a sport 1st and as a professional athlete you wana stick to the best possible game plan. Id be blaming the lack of talent in his opponants cuz im sure if he was given a much tougher time he would try rise to the challenge and his fights would be way more exciting
I agree if HBO thought they could get more viewers with them they would be on. K2 fans can seem to see this though. It is a business and if K2 was good for business HBO would have them on.
He should be more aggressive because he can afford to. I understand it took him awhile to psychologically recover from his losses, but now, after he has destroyed the last man who knocked him down, there's no more room for excuses. I think both Wlad and Manny realise this, so hopefully he can deliver what's expected of him in the next fight. There were clear signs of that in the Peter fight, Wlad just has to step it up.
Wlad , is very boring. I admit he wins but so did John Ruiz. The division is crap right now and Wlad to his credit is taken advantage of it. Wlad in any other era would most likely be a journeyman fighter.
He could have done that at any time. Wladimir walked into the tenth determined to lay Peter out. Everything about him changed.
