Why Montiel? Dude is a 3 div champ, unified champ and the man to beat in one of boxings deepest divisions, and is a very skilled boxer-puncher.

Seriously, Montiel gets so underrated in these forums its disgusting.

:-( I wondered when the first dire attempt at fitting the word 'coke' into Ricky Hatton's name would appear...

Nowhere near as good as 'Joe Cokezaghe', 'Joe Calcokey', 'Blow Calzaghe' when Joe C was caught with his head on the coffee table.

Co-sign!!!! Not only is he underrated here but every other boxing forum out there!! hell even Ring Magazine underrates him. IMHO he should be ranked above Doniare whom I see nothing special about. I just have this feeling that Donaire will get exposed as soon as he faces a good puncher that knows how to box..... That man will be Montiel:good

I remember Tom Johnson being on PFP list at one time. He was a pretty good fighter but about on par with primeKevin Kelley and Prime Juan Diaz.

I don't think p4p Johnson is even close to Kelley. Also, Junior Jones could beat anyone on any given day, he beat MAB and EM said that JJ hurt him several times. Kennedy McKinney... wtf are you dissing him for? McKinney was one badass SOB in his prime.

Also, Nate Campbell is a whole class better than Peden. He was dominating and toying with Peden all the way thru their first fight, until he got stupid. I've never been able to see the second fight so I don't know wtf happened there.

 FYI, Peden was ahead on all three cards when he stopped Campbell for the 2nd time.

I actually agree with Bernie on this:shock: Jones was very dangerous against even the elite opponents, Mckinney too. PFP id rank all these guys above Glen Johnson. Popkins probably just has a soft spot for the hard way GJ fought his way up the ranks and all his controversial losses.

Im not a big fan of this thread. Seems like the TM is not showing enough respect to these guys that earned the way into the top echelons of the sport. I find it hard to diss Diaz,Kelley,Johnson,Kelley,Jones,Mayorga etc etc and all the other guys mentioned.:-(

It is not necessarily a "diss" to simply name someone you don't think should have ever been in the p4p top 10. To say that does not mean that you did not rate or like the fighter, I liked and rated Wayne McCullough, a lot in fact, but I never thought he was a p4p talent. For me, Ricardo Mayorga was never a p4p calibre fighter. I don't see what is wrong with holding that opinion or making that statement.

    Thanks for the list Chatty.

How Antonio Esparragazo got to #4 is completely beyond me. He;s got to be the tops.

Regardless of what you say about Mayorga the man could really punch and imo he earned a pfp top 10 ranking. Forrest was one of the most respected fighters around at the time coming off wins over then #1 pfp king Shane Mosley. Vernon was on everyones top 3 or 4 pfp list and Mayorga beat him a 2nd time to prove it was no fluke. It would have been hard at the time to give a reason to why Mayorga shouldnt be on a top 10 pfp list.

As for Mccullough he was very good at bantam but i dont recall any respectable sources having them on their top10 list.

yeaaaah ts is a bit nuts on the "kevin ****ing kelly" claim the guy was a hell of a fighter just because naz beat him and everybody is so down on the naz that doesn't take away what kelly was
