This thread is just to see where people rank Floyd if he were to beat Manny . I find it funny that people rank Pacquiao top 5 and 10 if he were to beat Floyd . It seriously is a joke . I think Floyd would be ranked around top 20 if he beats Pacquiao . Same for Pacquiao if he were to win.
Floyd would have to be top 20 for sure. Pacquiao will get more credit if he were to beat Floyd because first off, he is higher now than Floyd and Floyd is a greater challenge for Pac stylewise, sizewise than vice versa, just like Duran vs. SRL. Actually Duran was a great boxer himself so the styles isnt such a mismatch as to Pac/Floyd.
tell him to get out of vacation first. until he got that urge, we never know. shamba mitchell, , unstable judah, bloated hatton, sd hoya, triglyceride marquez.. hahahaha
I would rephrase that and say that they will improve their legacies even more with a win over the other.
i would put him top ten! Especially if he remained undefeated and beat another top fighter.....however i could see how some people would put him top 20 with just the pac win
Floyd Jr. would at the very least be in the top 25 ATG list. To get higher he'd have to get off his ass and fight at least 3 other great fighters of his era in or near their prime and YES Shane Mosley DOESN'T count... :deal
give me three 'GREAT' fighters in their prime right now outside of Pac....keep in mind you said 'GREAT'
I totally agree that Pacquiao gets more credit beating Floyd than Floyd beating Pacquiao . But really when/if the fight happens Floyd will be the favorite and the bigger more skilled man. So really it won't come as a shock if Floyd won. Both Floyd and Manny in my opinion can't reach Top 10 . Thats like saying Kobe is better than Jordan which is a cardinal sin. Boxing today is far different when guys fought back then much so how when Jordan played when defense was still allowed in the league compared to Kobe getting half his points at the foul line due to "touch fouls" and flopping . I don't think Mannys 8 weight classes compare to Armstrongs in any wayIMO.
Doesnt also depend upon the nature of his victory, whether it's a Marquez type schooling or a ropey points decision
Manny believe it or not can crack top 10 if he beats Floyd(and it doesnt have to be a dominating win) Its the whole illusion of the LW to WW run that he had. His compelling story from one dimensional to giant slayer. Theres too much drama, too much guts and glory. The same drama thats associated to those unsurpassable old greats. If you ignore the weightclasses thats fine but if Pac beats Margo, youd still have to include that, then if he beats Floyd and has a farewell fight against a JMM for example then I dont know how history can deny top 10. Also remember that Pac has that same mystique that is applied to the guys like Armstrong, Duran. Just listen when people talk about him, he blurs the line of the great old school fighters and the modern greats. Floyd with a win can crack top 10 but with a very select few, those who favor his style over another.
