just came across this video from bruce blitz who sounds fairly convinced omar henry is retired apperantly henry said it himself although i havent come across any other sources about it chek it out anyway [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJqCbedtVrk&feature=recentf[/ame] sucks if its true
i remember a while back when the pac/may negotiatons were taking place henry tweeted joking about how he was goin to sign with al haymon and leonard elerbe or some **** like that anyway toprank were'nt happy with him
He was doing crack cocain with Roger Mayweather. Wasn't there a video of him doing pad work with Roger? I was hoping that Henry and Porter would fight someday.
I highly doubt he's retired as a fighter. He's probably been dropped by Top Rank, that's all. It's hard to imagine a promising prospect will finish his career over something as stupid as that. If Top Rank don't want him, I'm sure another promotional firm will.
Wow, that's quite unexpected. YouTube comments suggest that 1) Top Rank wasn't too happy the way he's making noise 2) spends too much time Roger Mayweather, a highly disliked figure at TR, plus 3) there might be motivational issues as hype might've got into his head, but these are just YT comments, and not touching the subject why he was thrown out and retired for the time being.
Pretty much everything I've ever heard about Omar Henry indicates he's the biggest douchebag in all of boxing and just a real pain in the ass to deal with. I wouldn't be surprised if Top Rank dropped him because of his out of ring behavior, but with the way he fights in the ring, he'll get picked up somewhere. A lot of people who are jerks in real life have become popular fighters because they're vicious in the ring. Henry might end up being no different.
I have seen no reason not to like Omar Henry, and will continue to like him until otherwise. Dude is a beast of a prospect and there is no way hes 'retired', he will be snatched up quick by another promoter no doubt. And if not, he could make his own way anyway. Though i am suprised top rank 'dropped' him, i cant even think of the last time a fighter was 'fired' by a promotional company for out of the ring behavior
