Mundine v Waters - 2 days out and the silence is deafening!

You could be forgiven for thinking that Horse. Have never seen less interest in a Mundine fight - in fact have never seen less interest in Mundine fullstop!

Where have all the nuthuggers gone? Appears they all left the building following the Jerez fight - every last one of them!

 

He was on the pre game Fox sports football show on Saturday. Bosnich and Slater were being pretty chummy with him. He came across as ok, admitted that he's pretty much a no name in the US, but unfortunately once again he said that all he can do is keep beating the guys in front of him for them to take notice

I liked ryans chances alot in this fight but have heard his sparring with geale has been pretty ordinary.

Choc might be just too fast for waters but im sticking with the upset. As josey says...i hope waters turns him off at the mains.

Oz PPV is just outrageous. To compare this Choc V Ryan club fight with Moseley V Mora for the same price is absolute nonsense.
admittedly, the Americans have seen better days but they are streets ahead of where our local fight is.

$35 to watch UFC? Like it or not, it's a sensible price & one thing we can be sure of, nobody is getting paid to just get bashed.

I understand that Anthony in the ring is a charactor unrelated to Anthony the bloke, but so is Hugh Jackson to Wolverine, but you don't hear him saying "I really am a Wolverine"

I'll remember him as the Jimmy Swaggart of Oz boxing.

 

How Waters is even rated is bloody beyond me...

it is an absolute disgrace. Who is the best fighter he has faced? Leveni? Samuel Colomban?

And he is WORLD rated?


Another disgracegul fight, followed by another digraceful fight (woods) followed by the inevitable "Mosely is ducking me, Cotto is ducking me, mayweather is ducking me"

I was going to have a bet but might stay away now. Regardless, mundine cant hurt him so that gives waters hope. I just hope he is good enough to catch him. Choc may be too speedy but ryan will be stronger.

ANTHONY MUNDINE has been working to increase his strength in the lead-up to tomorrow night's WBA light-middleweight world title eliminator bout with Ryan Waters, but he insists he won't become obsessed with trying to win by knockout.
After his only other fight at the 69.9kg limit against Carlos Adan Jerez, Mundine admitted he hadn't felt as powerful as when he previously fought in the heavier middleweight and super-middleweight divisions and was frustrated by his inability to finish off the durable Argentinian.

But Mundine said he would be stronger and more patient when he steps into the ring at Wollongong's WIN Entertainment Centre against Waters, who is rated in the top 10 at light-middleweight by the WBA and WBO.
''I am not even going to look for it any more,'' Mundine said of the KO. ''If it comes it comes. I know in myself I have the power to stun him or the power to knock him out. But I have probably gone away from what made me successful and that is boxing like a fox and being able to hit and not be hit so I am going to go back to that strategy and I think he is going to get a shock.
''I will still have my aggression when I need it but I am going to be a lot smarter and a lot more patient because pretty much all of my knockouts have come when I have been patient.''
Responding to criticism that he had not stopped an opponent in his past nine fights over a three-year period, Mundine said he had not properly recovered from shoulder surgery in mid-2007 that derailed his plans to fight in Malaysia.
''A lot of people don't realise that I tore the tendon off the bone in my shoulder in 2007 and that gave me another headache as far as coming back to 100 per cent because I feel that I didn't do the right rehab in order to regain the power that I once had,'' he said. ''But this is one of the first fights I have actually worked on training methods to strengthen myself and I feel like I am a lot stronger now.
''I've tried to build my strength by working on my explosive power and work on certain things to ensure I've got a bit more snap in my punches and I feel that I am sitting on my punches a lot better and my balance is a lot better. Also, this is my second time at this weight so I think it is going to be a bit easier. People can say Anthony is going down too far in weight or he's not punching hard enough but guess what, I am still winning. I am not just winning, I am winning easy against world-rated fighters so I don't care what they say about knockouts … I am going to work on that but as far as being victorious or winning, that's me.''
