I dont think he can make 135 honestly. His last fight was at 147 dont forget. He really shouldnt be fighting at all. From my understanding he has money, with some guys like Jones, Hopkins ect its not even about the money, they still are looking for that one last big win. I hope he just retires.
Fine by me. Who else should he fight? Id rather him stick to these level type fights if hes going to continue then step up and let someone who isnt worthy to get a victory over him on the basis of how far gone he is..... Ive got no interest in seeing Morales vs any top 10 fighter in any division. He can continue this love affair run hes having right now, soaking up the cheers while fighting guys who def have a shot at beating him due to his deteriaton, but that he should still be able to overcome.
Oh wow I didnt even know he fought this week. He weighed 143? Both of them? How did he get a vacant 140 belt then?
Morales abused his body so much making weight limits during his prime, which is why he finds himself in the predicament he is now.......not being able to dehydrate to a signifacent sense and still feel good enough physically afterward to fight strong. There is only so much abuse a human body can take before it just feels the effects of that abuse on a permanent basis where he just cant drop the weight now and feel good enough to where he can fight.
Morales was, in my opinion, the best mexican fighter to watch if you like a mix of brawling and technical skills. He is ideally as close as you can get to my idea of a perfect prize fighter.
Get your hands on some JC Chavez and Ricardo Lopez fights, and you'll change your mind real quick. JC Chavez gets stereotyped by many as being just a plodding destroyer, but the facts of the matter were that he was so much more than that....... People make the mistake of just seeing the end result which most often was destructive, but they fail to see the whole picture.....the means that brought on the destruction. The subtleties of the fighter. The whole arsenal both offensively and defensively. As a prize fighter, JC Chavez was far and away the more complete package. If you were to compare their stenghths and weaknesses, its not even close. .......and I'm speaking of both of a skillset point of view, and a visual and result point of view. Forget the casual fan.......if you were to just ask a hardcore boxing fan who's been watching the sport for years and who witnessed both Chavez and Morales' careers......ask them who they would prefer to watch against the same opponent.......its Chavez by a landslide.
What a bunch of BSatsch I heard this Bull**** years ago when Mcguigan blamed the Vegas heat on his loss to Steve Cruz, saying that hes not use to the climate and Cruz was from Texas. These guys are proffesional fighters and when you go to another climate you better damn well act proffesional and prepared or bring your training camp to the area so you can be ready come fight time. End of story Limond dont deserve no rematch and should stay in the UK and fight those chumps. As for Morales if he insists on fighting he should try and get a big fight(maybe Marquez or Barrera 4) and get out. Or maybe he could fight Bobby "Blow Blow" Pacquiao in his next fight
****, at least MAB has shown he can get in physical shape to at least compete against high level fighters. I'd cry watching MAB get an opportunity to destroy a shell of Erik Morales. For as big a rivalry as those two had, that just is'nt right to have it end that way for Morales. Morales would have to prove against a level much higher than Limond, that he still has it to compete.....otherwise to have Morales beaten down by a fighter he hates with such passion just is'nt right.:fire
What the ****? Of course I know who lopez and chavez are. yeah, chavez, the dude who lost to whitaker and taylor. He was great. No ****. I prefer Morales for multiple reasons.
Do you think he has that much more left than Morales? Morales has been more active and Alfaro(his last win) wasnt a bad fighter. Ive always been a bigger Barrera fan(i admire Morales too) but im thinking this still might be a tight matchup. I have to admit i havent seen barrera in a while though and dont know how much he has left.
YEy the Taylor that looked like a Monster after the fight and was never the same . Whittaker:huh No shame in losing to an atg who outweighed you while moving up in weight. Do you think he was greater than Chavez or do you just prefer watching him more? I actually prefer Barreras more fluid and crisper combinations to anything Morales did. Dont get me wrong Morales is an atg but at times could look stiff. He just didnt look as smooth as some of the other Mexcian greats Chavez,Sanchez,Barrera,Lopez etc etc
You know, I was thinking the same thing when LukeO mentioned about Morales being the perfect fighter to watch. Cosmetically he really was'nt all that eye pleasing, though he certainly got the job done. Certainly though, Morales' style and form was far away from "perfection" as LukeO described. ......nobody is perfect, but for a fighters fighting form where it relates to perfection, Ricardo Lopez is as good as it gets.
Physically from what I have seen, MAB has alot more in the tank than does Morales. I have'nt seen anything from MAB that would indicate to me he still cant fight 12 hard rounds. .....but I just dont get that sense from Morales, and the reason being as I've already mentioned. For years Morales has looked physically drained afterward even in fights he wins.......and almost always against quality opposition, he's losing the late rounds due to fatigue. As I said before, the man has abused his body to make weight so many times, that sadly I believe that damage is irrepairable.:? You're a MAB fan Anarci, I'm certain you dont want to watch a shell that was once Morales get taken out by MAB who he despicses. I cant think of an occurence in boxing other than death, that would be sadder than that. The fact that it would be MAB doing that to Morales just is'nt right, and I would think that even some hardcore MAB fans would agree with me on this.
So im assuming that you think your Boy Marquez would do some serious damage to Morales? Suggest a fight then where Morales could make some good money, get limelight, without taking a serious ass whupping. Maybe Alfonso Gomez on big PPV undercard or their own headline? I dont think he can beat Gomez.
Gomez has been fighting as a Welterweight for a couple of years now. Morales could not get himself in proper condition to compete as a Welter. Welter is out of the question for Morales. I'd suggest a Nate Campbell fight at 140 lbs. Campbell is well on the downside of his career and is certainly not the fighter that beat Juan Diaz...... ....that fight would give us a better indicator of where Morales is at this point. The loser of that fight outright should retire. If Morales gets by Campbell, he can then go up a notch and take on Juan Diaz, who's still very formidable but a fighter who has lost significant fights against both Marquez and Malignaggi. Juan Diaz' workrate is something Morales should be worried about, but at least he's not a huge puncher. Another possiblity could be Michael Katsidis. If JMM dominates him as I expect him to do, Katsidis could be a good barometer of where Morales is at and tell us if his comeback is legit.
