Has the Mundine circus run its race at ESB - sure looks like it

Let's hope the 2nd half is a whole lot more adventurous, better planned and more successful than the first half then Teke.

Have always stated on ESB that when he steps up I'll be in his corner...........and still waiting!

Mundine vs Waters

Former super middleweight champion Anthony Mundine (39-3, 23 KO’s) will continue his practice of fighting mostly domestic opposition on Wednesday night when he takes on fellow Australian Ryan Waters (20-2-2, 12 KO’s) in light middleweight action at the Entertainment Centre, Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.

Mundine, 35, is ranked number #2 by the World Boxing Association and is in a great position to be taking on WBA champion Miguel Cotto in the near future if Mundine is interested. Waters, 31, is ranked number #8 by the WBA, but has fought strictly B level opposition during his career.

It’s hard to see what Mundine’s reasoning is for taking on this obscure opponent, as he’s not well known and not the kind of guy that the 35-year-old Mundine should be fighting at this late stage in his career if he wants to attract attention.

It’s been four years since Mundine fought what you could consider a competitive opponent when he took on Danny Green in 2006. Since then, Mundine has faced largely beatable guys and not ones that would give him too many problems.

It’s unfortunate because Mundine could potentially be one of the biggest stars in boxing right now had he pushed himself by taking on the best fighters in the middleweight, super middleweight and junior middleweight divisions.

Instead, we see Mundine fighting mostly Australian fighters. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good fighters in Australia but he’s missed out on a lot of fighters from other parts of the world.

Mundine should be going after guys like Cotto, Kermit Cintron, Paul Williams, Sergio Martinez, Lucian Bute, Alfredo Angulo, and Sergeii Dzinziruk instead of Waters, Carlos Adan Jerez, Robert Medley, and Alejandro Gustavo Falliga, to name just a few of the kinds of guys Mundine has been fighting lately.

 

Wud be great if he went after a recognized guy, what he needs. A loss to an inferior domestic fighter would ruin all his appeal. Go Waters! LOL

The Ottke KO still looms strong in mandy's head. He won't fight anyone that could possibly do that to him again. It would be ironic though if his last big fight, he went out on his back, just like his 1st big fight. Maybe thats mandys biggest fear.

 

Surely khoder could see one huge last payday by getting an "A" List sponsor to cough up mega coin for exclusive advertising rights to the soles of "The Pioneers" boots.

If he fights below his ability level long enough, eventually someone will get lucky and knock him over - perhaps it'll be Waters tonight?

He'll then be faced the delima of whether he should try and avenge the loss - and risk further embarrassment, ring Danny Green and organise their superannuation bout, or probably more sensibly, hang 'em up.
