Well, I meant in the eighties on a top 100 list but he might as well have rated him in the 1980's too.

ken buchanna is noit a great fighter in the slightest.

jimmy wilde never won a world title never fought for a world title, and at least half of his 140 plus opponents had 5 or less fights. since he fought at flyweight and back in the twenties tht shows that he could have been fighting 14/15 year olds as he was very very small.

there arent many fighters like jones, iunfact none. i would be willing to put a bet on that there will never be a fighter like jones ever again. or at least not for another 60+ years.

Harry greb fought in the era of newspaper decisions like few on your list this means that if their was a favourite or a popular fighter it was easily rigged etc for betting purposes and their is no video footage of him.

its hard to asses roy for a few reasons


1 - he is a proven banned anabolic steroid user, a proven cheat.

2 - he folds like a lawn chair when faced with adversity in a fight

3 - he was never involved in great fights where he showed great will to win

4 - he never beat a lineal champion or unified belts

5 - he couldn't adapt in the ring and change styles when in trouble to win fights like real great fighters like ali and leonard could do.

 

I understand that it is easy to over rate old time fighters. But when you criticise people for not fighting for world titles then you have to also be aware that Jones never beat the number one ranked fighter in the division (or number 2 if he was 1).
