Cuevas by KO. As good as Tony's chin is, all the left hooks he ate from Cotto, if that was Cuevas hitting him.... Tony would eventually go. Cuevas KO 6.
Margarito's style of taking one to give one. Wouldn't work in this fight. Margarito would be in Cuevas' face at the start, the power difference would be startling & Margarito would be catching devistating firepower. About the Fourth round Margarito would start to wilt. Cuevas by knockout in about the fifth or sixth round.
Big fan of margo but he gets stretchered out after 6 if he's lucky or they'll be searching the bleachers for body parts. What a dream tear-up to watch live after 10+ pints down yer guzzler
I think it goes about 3,Pipino dont need no plaster in his gloves,Margarito will think he's getting hit by real bricks,if it goes past 3 and he gets stopped like you guys are saying his face will look like the elephant man,this will be a most brutal entertaining affair.
Cuevas punched much harder than Cotto. Margarito wouldn't know what to do after a few rounds of taking Pipino's punch.
WOW! I am not a huge Margo fan, but a consensus of a 3rd, 5th and 6th rd stoppages have me wondering if Pipino has become overrated or margo and the plaster scandal has made him useless???? Just to mention the fights Margo had with Williams, Cotto and even Mosley make me believe that he would not be a quick out for just about anybody at WW. I am not overly impressed with the technical skills of Margarito and he clearly has defensive shortcoming to say the least! His plaster scandal also calls into question all to many of his wins (cheating once casts a doubt on all of the other accomplishments IMHO)...so his power and KO's/stoppages can be called into a higher question, but not so much his chin. I am also not sure who Pipino destroyed so early that was on the level of Margarito??? Ranzany, Volbrecht, Backus...Not sure why he would dispose of Margo so quickly??? Now that hating Hatton has fallen out of popularity, maybe Margo can take that spot??? Pipino would probably struggle with the height and reach advantage that Margo would have, as well as the pressure he would bring. I do think Pipino would settle in and adjust to that but not as easy or as quick as it has been made to sound. Pipino could concievable stop him late but I am not sure that he would and I would probably favor margo to score a stoppage before Pipinio. I believe Pipino would take a close points decision, but would have to dig deep to get it.
Margo's style would be all wrong for him vs Cuevas...Pipino would decapitate him. Probably in 5 or 6.
My pick here really has nothing to do with Margo's scandal..rather it's more having to do with the fact that Margo is emphatically NOT a defensively strong fighter, nor is he a big enough single shot puncher (like Hearns) to quell Pipino, nor is he as savvy a fighter (like Duran) and sooner or later a devastating shot from Cuevas..a bomb...would land and it would be all over.
I'm on board with everything said so far. Margo can bang, but not like this monster. Cuevas by decapitation.
