[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6CoDFTi6Jw[/ame] Just got referred to this clip. What a beat down. Look for the fluid combination's inside. I think this guy has potential to go all the way. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKqLmGKR8DU&feature=related[/ame] 7.42 - I'm getting Barrera flashbacks with a double hook like that.
everytime I see this kid getting better and better. Good chin, Great power, and is getting better with his technique. Against Peterson he show great timing as well. I think this kid could go far. Who's next for this kid there's DeMarco, Soto, Diaz, Marquez, Katsidis, Funeka
I think he has the capabilities to beat everybody currently campaigning at Lightweight. Yes, even Juan Manuel Marquez.
Rios-Katsidis would be an easy FotY candidate. Dunno about that one. The gap in world class experience would come into play and I see JMM identifying and exploiting some of the holes in his game. Let him whup Vazquez and Kats and then we can talk.
Marquez just had a fairly close fight with Juan Diaz. People are going to have to start coming to terms with the fact that Marquez has never been dominant in any fight at 135lbs, and he's only going to get older. The last thing Marquez needs is a tough, skilled Mexican burying his head into his chest and banging to body and head with hard hooks. I'm not going on record to say that Rios beats Marquez, only that I do rate him very highly.
Good point, although I wouldn't really say it was a close fight, Marquez won in pretty unanimous fashion far as I can tell. A tough pressure fighter who can bring the ruckus might derail him though, which is why i think Kats is a good dark horse pick in their upcoming bout :hey
I think Rios is the pick of all the Lightweights outside of the champion. I've watched two of his other bouts on Youtube, and he's so smooth on the inside. He'll most likely pick up a World Title next year, barring some freak accident. He didn't just win against Peterson, who is a very talented prospect himself, he beat him up. There's no need for a rematch because the same thing would happen, Rios is infinitely stronger. The result was inevitable, Peterson was helpless.
He was impressive against Peterson and it was first fight of Rios that I have seen. Hope that he keeps on developing.
As he said in the post-fight interview, he likes to take it slow and gauge the opponents power before asserting himself and fighting offensively. Spoke a lot about the importance of confidence in his fight plan. I'd like to see him in the ring with someone who has some legitimate power before touting him as the next big thing. I have a feeling that he will fold like a cheap suit. He seems a little fragile to me.
