The fight serves no purpose for Povetkin who has to face bigger punchers.

I started a thread on Malik Soctt 5 years ago when I joined ESB asking where he was and what he was doing. Someone asnwered "he is in the same place he was years ago." Years later, he is still in the same place. I really wanted to see the man succeed, but he needs to work his way up by fighting often agaisnt progressively better competition. Not by calling someone out who is already on the doorstep and has no use for him.

And I have heard Scott's arguement that everyone is ducking him- he can get somebody. Everyone else scores decent fights. Perhaps he needs a new manager. He needs to start with the Nagy Aguilara's, the Brian Minto's, the Michael Sprotts and the Bruce Seldons, and then call out the Povetkins.

Good post my friend. I agree that his career is moving way too slowly and he needs to seriously pick up the pace. A fight vs. Aguilera would be a good step for him. Perhaps even Fres Oquendo. But I do believe that Malik has great natural athleticism and good fundamental skills. He has the tools, he is just too inactive lately and needs to step up the competition level. I look forward to seeing his comeback, and I hope he can get on the right track now.

He could beat just about any of these untalented, free swining tough guys that clog up the middle ranks of the heavyweight division. If he would commit to fighting every 2-4 months in the same fashion as guys like Pulev and Helenius are doing, there is no reason that he could not get a ttile shot by the end of next years.

Malik Scott has talent and a good jab if he's in shape he will be a threat.

To all the people saying Malik has talent and could possibly win....
    wrong.

Malik was a baby during his career - expecting things he didn't earn.
And what did he do? He left.
Yup, that's the winning attitude that a fighter needs - quit when things don't go your way when you never earned what you think should have fallen in your lap.

He was supposed to fight Kirk Johnson at one point, another inactive fighter. They both have skills--I would buy tickets.

Can't see him doing much in the heavyweight division now. He's got good skills and speed when in shape but that doesn't seem to be the case now, and obviously there's the inactivity/injuries/aging.

Interesting prediction on Harrison/Haye though. Although he's made that with - by his own admittance - limited knowledge on Haye. You'd think he'd have seen him fight though given it Haye should be a target (even if an unrealistic one).

Good interview Charles, enjoyed the read. :thumbsup

Well you can say that about a lot of the elite boxers currently. Otherwise all these fight negotiations wouldn't be turning sour.
