Larry Holmes' jab was a flicker??? He could knock people down with it for the love of ****!!!!!!!!

That's it - there should be bans for crap like this?

The original question? No ****IN WAY! Holmes was a beautiful fighter who had everything and Wlad well........ isn't!

Wlad is a lot more uptight and cautious than Holmes.

But then there's good reason for that.

Watch from around 2mins 16 of this video, the big moment occurs around 5 seconds later:

Imagine Wlad taking that shot. I respect Wlad for maximising his physical advantages but, through no fault of his own, he has a diabolical chin. EVERY half-decent shot he takes troubles him and potentially leaves the man a good follow up away from the canvas, so it's good under the circumstances that he has a style - ugly it undeniably is - which means he seldom has to take punches.

Where talking about a guy that had one of if not the best left jab in the game in Holmes.

IMO Wlads jab even though it is effective,is not a Larry Holmes thudding jab.

To answer the threads question i would have to say a big fat no.

Their competition is very similar. Are guys like Lorenzo Zenon, Leroy Jones, Scott LeDoux, Tex Cobb, Lucien Rodriguez, Scott Frank, Marvis Frazier all who Holmes fought as Champion better than who Wlad is fighting? Hell no. Holmes is an ATG but he could only fight who was there and his competition was very mediocre but he beat them all just like Wlad is doing.

number of clinches: 1 (and that was after the huge punch dropped him)

that 10 minute video had more skill and excitement then the past 8 years of the heavyweight division combined.

holmes was at the end of his career.plus, spinks was a better fighter than most of wlad's opponents.. in fact, he may be better than all of wlad's opponents.

Holmes went on to school ESB favourite Ray Mercer 6 years later, his career was far from finished.

i said he was at the end of his career, not finished.yeah, he still had some decent performances left in him, but my point was that he wasn't in his prime any more.

Not prime, but not that far past it, he was 36 or 37 I think. Spinks as a HW was nothing special.

spinks may not of been anything special at heavy, but he was still better than most of wlad's opponents.

spinks has two wins over holmes, and a victory over gerry cooney.

    that's three very good wins.
