In regards to a boxer chin...I see a lost of ESBers down someone's chin by saying he doesn't take a punch well. So my question is, What do you mean by take a punch well. What i determine by dont take a punch well is you get clocked clean or unclean and you are on your back or headed that way. Frequently. Not necesarily a KO though.

I really think its stupid when people say somebody doesnt have take a punch well when he gets hits CLEANLY and its stuns him for a second. (and not even real trouble)

Roy Jones Jr., for example, doesn't take big punches well. He gets rocked almost everytime he gets hit with a big shot, whereas another guy can take those same shots and not wobble. Of course, there are shots that would shake anyone, e.g., the shot Pac caught Hatton with, but Jones has been rocked by shots that other guys would have eaten like skittles.

Mayorga is a guy who can (or could) take shots that would crumble - or at least shake - the average guy.

The Trinidad fight where he just invited Tito to throw those wound up left hooks was one of the most impressive feats of steel-chinnedness I've seen. Guess it had a cumulative effect though

Well maybe i didnt ask the question right. See I understand clearcut guys who can handle punches. Like Mayorga. You take someone like Jones. I dont think he handles punches well post heavyeight because everytime he gets hit, he was out.

Then you get a guy like pbf who gets hit by corley and was stunned but recovered quickly, mosley and recovers quickly and it is said he doesnt take punches well. Now what i look at is, he was hit cleanly and corley caught him when he was turning, and mosley is just mosley. Yet pbf didnt go down and you tell me he doesnt take a punch well. But if that same punch would have hit roy and they were the same weight, I think roy would have went.

So what im getting at is how can you say a guy doesnt take a punch well just because he wobbles(and not even for a long time) after getting hit by a good clean punch.

Vlad is a great example of someone who has a great chin but, doesn't take a punch well...Good portion of it is mental...Michael Moorer had the right mental toughness but had a crappy chin...
