Who out there would "SUPPORT" the use of Gatorade in the corner of a pro fight?

A Heiniken would be best, I think. Just as long as they have to pop the cap, so there is not chance of an illegal substance.

Gatorade is not good for boxers. It does not coincide with mouth pieces, and it leaves the mouth dry, and can upset the stomach, and make you feel full.

With a drink that is not clear, any substance can be put into a colored drink like Gatorade. Most venues provide both fighters corners with the water that they are to use during a fight.

Clear doesn't make any difference. In fact, most drinks are clear. Artificial colors are added for marketing. I wonder if the Aaron Pryor fight had anything to do with venues controlling the water used?

I don't know if there is an advantage of having a sports drink over water or the other way around, in boxing. Perhaps it dose not matter. For the life of me I don't see why it shoiuldn't be allowed. There not PED's. Both boxers would have the opition to use them.

I would think Pediliite would be used more than Gatoraid or Poweraid.

Gatorade does not make you feel heavy and full, if you drink it correctly.

I think the recommended is 1 cup of Gatorade every 15 minutes of exercise.

It definitely is better than tap/bottled water, in terms of hydrating athletes quicker and replenishing electrolytes/salt that the athlete sweats out.

    Why would it be different?

I can understand the dryness of mouth, because of the sweet flavour, but you can always rinse your mouth with plain water before every round.

By the way, I'm not agreeing with allowing Gatorade and other sports drinks for official pro bouts, (it would be unfair for the past championship fights) I'm just saying that it'll probably work as well on boxers as well as other athletes, and is better than water if you want to rehydrate faster.

That is too much to do between rounds. Every sport uses these drinks except boxing...why? Boxers get 12 minutes to rest for a 36 minute fight. Gatorade would fill you up too much even used in moderation...

I don't believe that Gatorade rehydrates you faster...

It's not per 15 minutes of boxing time. It's 1 little cup for every 15 minutes of real time.

It's basically a small gulp of water per round.

I know what you mean, because when you're tired, you kinda wanna drink the whole bottle in one sitting.

But a small mouthful to gulp down per round will not fill your belly up.

If they ok Gatorade, I'm telling you that very few boxers will use it. A small mouthful of Gatorade after each round can't replenish the body during a fight. There's a reason why 69% of the world is water and not Gatorade...kidding. Gatorade is made WITH water. Gatorade is too dangerous for a boxer who only has a minute rest whose body is taking punishment for 12 rounds...imo.
