We all know Hatton had a huge fan base and he always claimed to be 'one of the boys' loving his fans etc etc but does anyone remember this quote before the Manny fight?

"Re-mortgage Your Home, Bet Everything on Me"

    Here's an ESB link:

    http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=136496

Now after he gets Ko'd he then says in camp he had nothing but trouble blah blah blah which is why he lost.

WHY THEN would a man who proclaims to love his fans encourage them to waste their working wage travelling for him, watching him and finally betting on his ass - even by re mortgaging - when he knows he had problem after problem in camp and might loose?

Answer: Hatton don't give a **** about his fans. He'll go down in history as a popular fighter but the truth is he was a chain drinking fat boy who did cocaine all through his career which is why he got worse and worse all while milking his fans for money.

If he's reading this I have something for him: [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrity[/ame]

P.S. I bet ony Manny before you ask.

"Bet the house on it" or words to that effect is not a literal command.

well, that means he's confident on that time... like some floyd fans says, he's a shot fighter, because he was beaten by floyd... i disagree with that. It's a human instinct to survive and to go to the top... on that night with pac, i bet he wants to be on the top again. lady luck is not on his side that night... hatton will always have fans... like tyson, Micheal jackson, lebron james, hayes, tiger woods, obama or even floyd...

I remember reading that someone had remortgaged their house to bet on Lennox against Oliver McCall in their first fight

Fans who actually put their mortgage on a guy because of his words, a guy who had struggled with southpaws before, had been stopped or badly hurt in two of his previous 3 fights, and was facing the best p4p fighter in the world, deserved to lose their homes for being idiots.

Funniest story i ever heard was a guy at half time Spurs 3-0 Manchester united in 2001 betting his life savings on spurs to win losing £40,000.

Inevitiably Man U battered them 5-3.....

    thread starters an inbred idiot

its called a figure of speech, plus how was he to know he would get KO'ed like that?

Pac was still unproven then at the heavier weights as people knew that de la hoya was badly drained for their fight

plus hatton was the top dog in his division seen as a large JrWW and also not to mention hatton was the favorite going into that fight

your a clown ... go back to the circus

you're validating everything I said in the thread :good

He shoulda kept quiet instead of leading his fans on or just said plain stuff like "I'm gonna knock him out!!"

but encouraging fans to drop every penny on him knowing what he (supposedly) knew? Nah. clearly he was thinking more from his pocket than to his fans - many of whom or working class whites - a group he claims to be a proud member of.

    Shame on him I say.
