You think fighters are branded Women beaters all their lives? What about Chico, he was crucified when he was convicted but when he came back all was forgiven. Floyd must go through the punishment process and be stigmatized until its all over like everyone else.
The list could go on tbh. Many boxers people love hit their wives and it's wrong but I like to think of what they did inside the ring more.
You know how I do, I stay amoral when it comes to a boxer's personal life. Just don't take that magic drank to open up your lungs, pack plasters in the gloves, or spread chemicals over the mitts, etc.
We are looking at it wrong. If a boxer does something like hit a woman or drugs we think it might be because they are a boxer or a top athlete. It's got very little to do with that. If they have that inside themselves to do that they would have done it anyway if they were a boxer or not. And just for the record, **** Sugar Ray Robinson if he did put his hands on a woman.
I guess it's also **** Floyd Money Mayweather for you too then? I like your Floyd Mayweather avatar though.
Can u really hate him as a boxer though? I love SRR as a fighter but as a person I admit he was a jerk. Of course he beat his wife and that's wrong but he was a great boxer, that can't be denied or taken away from him.
As a boxer I cant and wouldnt try to take away what guys like SRR, SRL and Chico have done. They did what they did in the ring and deserve credit for it.
SRR was a jerk and SRL I always felt was an *******. I still hate how he invited Hagler to an event only to say Hagler/Leonard, "will never happen". As boxers I respect them and am a huge fan but as people I have little respect for them as I don't and never knew them but from what I heard about them they were jerks. Anyone have a link of SRL doing drugs and/or beating his wife? I can't find them. EDIT: Nevermind about SRL taking drugs. http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-1057706.html
i wonder if robinson ever fought on behalf of battered women. that would take a special kind of scumbag.
This sums up how I feel. As a boxing fan I admire these guys for their talent and what they did in the sport but as a person I have no admiration or respect for them what so ever. Maybe because of what I have seen I am a bit more sensitive to it but I just cant stand seeing women and children hurt by men. For some people drugs are the worst thing, some it may be murder. For me hitting a woman or a child is just the lowest thing possible and I can't respect anybody who does it. Part of me is happy the way SRR went out, broke and basically battered at the end of his career. Deserves it for ever putting his hands on a woman.
Couldn't of said it better myself. Most of us who have been to a gym, one of the first things were told, "you have to be the most calm once you are hit" and things like that, preeching being calm and collected pretty much. At least thats how it has been for me. Everything is about discipline and SELF CONTROL. But alot of fighters are only good at that in the gym.
OP = straw man argument. No one is saying PBF is NOT #1 or #2 P4P in the world because he possibly hit a woman. His status as one of, if not the best in the world is the SAME before this controversy. You are just making false connection between the criticism and jokes about him hitting a woman and the supposed ducking with the Pac fight. While it is often the same people the calls him a duck and a woman beater, one is not dependent on the other. The video is BS. If PBF punched the woman, he is an idiot that deserves some punishment. Nevertheless he is still an elite boxer with only Pac as his peer.
And therein lies the problem. If guys like Robinson, Leonard and Gatti had the same control in the gym/ring they had out of it, they wouldn't have been women bashing pieces of ****.
