Meldrick Taylor for me. The first Chavez fight would be finished and never in question in regards to the verdict.
He landed alot of leather on Chavez thats for sure, but something tells me even a big puncher wouldnt have kod that Chavez:nono
It's tricky giving Meldrick punching power. I don't think he'd be throwing nearly the same volume of punches that he was if he possessed power. He'd be sitting down on his shots more, whereas Taylor was almost shoe shining at times. You can't knockout Chavez by shoe shining. That's not going to happen.
LaMotta might be the definitive choice here, in terms of how enhanced his rating would be by a huge influx of power. His series with Robinson...

EVANDER HOLYFIELD - although punching as hard as he did he was a tremendous fighter as it is but I think if he had a really big knockout punch then he would've been beating everyone he fought at heavyweight hands down

Are you suggesting hat the arm punching Limon wouldn't have benefitted from having better punching power? I was thrilled to see him persevere over Rolando Navarette back in the early 80's in that thriller match of theirs, but the ko came about from him simply wearing down an exhausted Navarette rather than any true bombs being thrown.

This applies to many of the guys mentioned on this thread. You just don't gain power and without effecting speed. Likewise, an Earnie Shavers put together longer, faster combinations he would not be knocking guys into the third row.
very interesting. are there any other fighters who could punch well but decided against punching with all they had in order to not harm their opponents?
Indeed. The likes of Myung Woo Yuh and Meldrick Taylor would lose half of what made them so effective if they were blessed with punching power.
