First, I don't think I can watch it myself. I have something else going on tonight and this fight is the quality of a BAD fight that I would DVR and watch when I get home. That sadly, is not possible. That being said, you ignore the fact that fights like this being on ppv hurt the sport. Few casual fans will see this fight. Fights like this being on ppv continue to marginalize the sport in america. Won't support it.
Dan Rafael was asked the very question today in chat. Toots (Titansville) Why in the hell is Mosley-More on PPV? This should be a regular HBO fight. Dan Rafael (2:35 PM) Let me ask you this: Would you rather see HBO blow money on this as a WCB at the expense of another planned WBC? Because they can only do so many. So if they bought this you have to give up Khan-Maidana or Martinez-Williams 2 or Marquez-Katsidis. Go ahead and tell me which one HBO should have not have bought so it could do Mosley-Mora. I understand your frustration and feel your pain but please learn to understand the economics of how this all works.
Great undercard & an aging but still feisty 1st-ballot Hall of Fame shoe-in against an opponent who could prove tricky for him at a weight where he's never really excelled (creating room for it to be fairly competitive). I'm buying it. Suck my dick.
They're not in direct competition (the UK is several hours ahead and therefore so are their boxing events). Why not watch both? :deal
Quick Q regarding American PPV's. When a British fighter is involved - say Hatton vs Mayweather or Pacquiao, there is always a British card from around 9pm our time until midnight/1am when we get the US broadcast...... do you get the fights from over here or not?
Never. The only undercard bouts we see are at the same local venue as the main event featuring the abroad British fighter.
To say the British complain about paying PPV for any fight I think we get a much fairer deal than you do Usually the British sections of the card are **** anyway, the Hatton vs Mayweather card would have been an exception until it all fell apart at the last minute :-(
Are those the only 2 possible options? Either put a non-PPV worthy fight on PPV or lose a slightly better WCB fight? Is it impossible for GBP to put this fight on another station? ESPN, even? If that's really how boxing's business model is set up, it truly is dead.
I'm undecided still, but who knows I always say I'm not buying a fight and then at the last min I end up getting suckerd into it...
Its on PPV cause saul alvarez is on the undercard. Saul is a big box-office attraction. Then you have Victor Ortiz, whom brought in over 10,000 fans to watch him fight Marco Maidana at the STAPLES CENTER. Mosley barely brought 8,000 people when he fought Ricardo Mayorga at the Home Depot Center, in Carson, CA.
