EMM...great techinican at his best, better the Kessler..Physically the bigger man aswell which is an advantage Mikkel likes to have. Muhammad likely stops him...Bit unfair on Kessler as he hasnt fought at light heavy yet.
This is insane. I'm ashamed that I'm even taken the time to respond to this silly matchup. Eddie Mustafa Muhammed knocks Kessler out within 5 rounds. When EMM fought in the lightheavy division, it was easily the best division in boxing. It was, in my opinion, the greatest division at any one time in the history of the sport. There were 12 lightheavies good enough to be champ-including Michael Spinks who was not only undefeated at lightheavy, but also fought and beat 4 of those ex-champs. And there were at least 5 that were good enough to give any champ a go. Eddie was a great counterpuncher with excellent power and a solid chin. His only weakness was indiscipline outside the ring. Kessler is a supermiddle whose only world class opposition was(to whom he lost)Joe Calzaghe, a fighter who couldn't even knock out absolutely shot-and Antonio Tarver and Glen Johnson ko victim before the Calzaghe fight-Roy Jones. Think about it. Kessler couldn't beat Calzaghe at 168, and Calzaghe couldn't ko Jones who was beyond shot and was ko'd years before by Tarver and Johnson, 2 guys Jones would've handled with ease 4 years before that. EMM went 15 with the monster that was Michael Spinks. Even in Denmark, Kessler would be lucky to not get stretchered out against Eddie Mustafa Muhammed. Ridiculous.
Eddie would win probaly on points, he wasn't a big puncher, and Kesseler has a pretty good jaw, so it's tough to see a stoppage...
Sorry man , I dont like this match up - a good super middle against a great light heavy. There is only one winner.
I'm a Kessler fan, but I think the answer to the question is Murray Sutherland. Very good fighter, first ever SMW champ. Only lost to the best of that era. Kessler is very similar to Sutherland. Now, pop over to box rec, and take a peak at how Sutherland faired against the best of that era at 175.
