    Round 2

Ponce De Leon is looking very sharp with the right jab and blocking nearly everything Escalante throws back at him. Ponce De Leon is missing a bit with his left as Escalante ducks and weaves but connecting better overall. 1-2 misses from the southpaw but he gets a left into the body. A counter left moments later pushes Escalante off balance while he's ducking and hunched forward. Escalante lands a bit to the body. Ponce De Leon continues to run the show with his jab.

    20-18 Ponce

Punch stats confirm what I've been saying, with the accuracy disparity quantified at 34% to 17%. That's double, folks.

Tony trying to impose his size a bit, going to the body some. I swear, De Leon has some of the ugliest punches I have ever seen, but it works for him. 2-0 PDL.

Not looking good for Tony. Burning a lot of energy and getting hit too many times.

Tony throwing power shots from too far out, PDL making him pay.

    Round 3

Escalante is now reaching in with left hooks on the southpaw but finds the head of PDL too tricky a target and goes back to the body. PDL begins to lead with the uppercut and tries to build into large volleys but Escalante is stuffing them by stepping in and smothering or ducking and shuffling out of reach. PDL again catches Escalante ducking with a 1-2 and then lands a clubbing unintentional rabbit punch to the upper back/lower neck. Escalante throws a badly telegraphed lead right and gets countered; he looks a little flustered and maybe breaking down a bit, with some blood on his face. RIGHT HOOK PUTS HIM OUT!

HOLY ****! Tony is still on his back and looking dazed. If I hadn't seen Frenkel-Maccarinelli just a few hours ago this would be the best KO in months!

Right hook inside twisted him up and sent him down and out.

Indeed. Ponce put his right hand in, put Antonio out, did the hokey pokey and shook it all about.

Power punch percentage through 2 and a half rounds:

    Daniel Ponce De Leon 51%
    Antonio Escalante 21%

"You know, when you land more than half of your power shots..."
