With time, has Haye's win over Maccarinelli been revealed for what it was, or was Enzo never the fighter he once was after that fight?

At the end of the day Haye gave him his first loss in his actual prime...he had that early loss but that was his first after his WBO run. And Haye handled him better than anyone, in a couple of rounds.

So it was a decent win but I think everybody knowledgable here knew it was a mismatch.

I just think Enzo's style keeps him wide open in the late rounds, but David smashed him up proper. He had his chin in the air and I cannot believe the ref let him continue after the 1st knockdown. Enzo is done, but Haye gets credit for his win over Enzo. Enzo is a very hard hitter, just not smart enough to keep out of harms way from a puncher.

Yep, I never saw this fight going past 3 rounds.

    Enzo never stood a chance.

Most people predicted that Haye would blow him away early.

It is like Holmes win over Cooney. It has slightly diminished but it is a notable win because of when they fought and what their status was going into the fight.

I'm sick and tired of these kind of threads. Why do people need to keep bashing fighters just because theyre not the flavour of the month. A win is a win regardless of what both fighters go on to do after. At the time this was a good win for Haye as he beat another british world champion.

Exactly, anyone with an ounce of boxing insight could see that the Haye/Maccarinelli fight was a mismatch. The fact that at the time some people were saying it was a 50/50 pick 'em fight shows just how much Frank Warren's spin and bull**** works in making idiots believe what he wants them to about his fighters.

In fairness he was the WBO world champ with wins over former world champ Dominguez and Braiwaithe, so he was world class.
