to put some perspective on it,I didnt think it was that bad, the crowd control (didnt see old bill they were only in the corridors outside)had it sorted within 10-20 mins and to be honest I have seen stuff kick off at most shows Ive been to, fighters align themselves with local football teams and rivalries exist I going to give the LG arena some credit,we were properly searched on the way in and they were good on drink/control in the actual arena It was only a small incident on what was a good show, dont let it put anyone off going to shows..................
lol fair enough, well ya know Reading it does have a certain rep compared to other parts of the country. There never seems to be any real fights or agro at Reading games and I sure as hell cannot imagine there being any trouble if there was any Boxing in Reading. All the serious trouble in Reading is pretty underground other then a few major club scraps here and there. Do you go down the Irish (think that's the name) by any chance?
Ive been to a couple of white collar and amateue events in reading and ur right, its always been trouble free. By irish u probably mean chatham st. Dont go down there although have been tommys and woodley moreso recently. More for the fitness classes tho mind u. Dont do any amateur or anything. What about u?
Don't either only got into Boxing a couple of years ago and I wasn't sure about giving it a go coz I felt like I might be a bit to old to be starting up. But I have a mate that really wants to start and thought I might go have a look around with him see if I feel the need to have a go. When do these white collar events go on haven't heard about any of them. Shame there is a lack of pro Boxing in Reading would love to go to a show even a small one but we seem to be completely neglected because of the lack of pro Boxers from around here.
Your right, we've only got michael sprott and thats about it. To be fair even the white collar events are a rare occurence, tommys abc organise those when they happen. Take a look at all 3. Woodley, tommys and chatham street (irish). It doesnt matter how old u are, its still a good chance to improve your fitness and hit the bags/pads. Chatham street is probably the best, u wont get chucked in the deep end in any of them as they all do seperate classes for beginners or ppl who just wanna train for fitness or the hell of it and classes fir those who are carded.
I was at the Haye-Macca fight at the 02 and the Welsh boys were kicking off left, right and centre there as well. Saw at least 3 fights break out, all of them involving Macca fans, and one bloke getting kicked in the head on the floor by about 6 of the ****ers. Birmingham fans are scum for sure, but based on my experience the Welsh don't need much of an excuse to start panelling people.
To be fair that was probably Swansea fans, the Welsh fans yesterday were mostly from Cefn Forest and a lot of them where with their wives and kids. Sure some of them might have kicked off but some off them who where dragged into it where not looking for a fight.
The Cefn Forest fans were brilliant, but it has to be said there were no Birmingham Fans in sight while cleverly was boxing. As soon as macca fought thats when it started to get nasty. I agree with what David The said about not letting it put you off shows. Also agree with the searches etc, felt a bit safer knowing people were getting checked properly and the security did stick around for a while after the trouble had died down to stop things from getting messy again.
We were sat quite close and thee were certainly more than 15 fighting. Looked closer to 40 to me. The big bloke in the white polo top (Might have been green??) gave that Welsh lad one hell of a punch, cleaned him right out. Riot seemed to go on for ever Best part of the night
