I've been thinking about the stoppage and you still have to blame the ref for his part. But he was giving the champion an opportunity in his home town after making it up. I'm not saying he did the right thing at all but I can understand his reasons for allowing the fight to continue.

Karl Ince however, knows Enzo Maccarinelli better than all of us. He's seen the state of Enzo a few times now when he gets hit like that and there's never a pretty ending. Why the **** did he not try and stop it when Macca was wobbling around in the corner?

Yes - the towel should have come in - when the ref failed to do his duty.

I agree. As soon as it looked like the Ref was giving him a look, Ince should've been in the ring.

Them last few shots - and the sickening sight of Maccarinelli fighting with Doctors trying to put a oxygen mask on him - didnt need to happen.

It was obvious the fight should have been waved off after the 1st knockdown.

And it was obvious what was going to happen - as soon as he foolishly let the fight go on.

The ref should have saved Enzo from his own bravery to continue.

The only excuse Ince could have was that he froze, probably like the rest of us.

No way. He could see that Macca was winning the fight on the cards and would win if he was on his feet at the end of 12. The fight was going 90% Enzo's way before he got hit on the button.

Karl Ince misjudged that situation terribly when previous history of similar situations told you exactly what would happen.

Yeah, Enzo was done after the first knockdown. Mandatory 8 counts are stupid and prolong punishment. The ref should simply start counting to 10, if the fighter is ready to continue then GO but if the fighter isn't ready by the time his count reaches 9 then you stop the fight. Simples. Enzo was not physically ready to fight at the count of 9 or 10.

have to agree as frenkel was still fresh , the first knockdown ended enzo's hopes, it should have been terminated at that point.

he should be sacked for that , just watched it and enzo was out on his feet - he could have been killed, terrible decision by the ref

I just watched round 7 on youtube as i missed the fight last night, it was Horrible seeing Enzo KO'ed like that! After the first knock down he didnt know if it was new york or new year! I am Big Enzo fan and hope he is okay but I really hope he retires now. To be fair he looked sharp and in good shape but that was a Bad KO.

I think thats what makes it so gutting, Enz was ahead in the fight but you always know once he gets tagged he struggles to defend himself and usually gets badly KO'd. I hope he retires now as he's a top bloke and i want him to go out with his health intact :good

Wasn't this the same ref that stopped Asakainan v Macklin?

Enzo looked in worse condition than Amin did when that stoppage occurred
