Yeah the rumour was that they were chasing Ring Magazine ranked Number 9 Lightweight & Top Rank promoted Urbano Antillon. Which IMO if Zappa is anywhere near the level he was against Fernando Angulo...he will get absolutely slaughtered. Not a great matchup IMO stylistically for Zappa at all.
Zappa is going great guns and is ready for October if his fight gets signed off. Hes been sparring Geale and Dilshod so thats some of the best sparring around for him. Looking forward to see him go round again :good
Lenny has had 24 fights and is a *cough* world champion. When will he be ready to face a guy who can bang a bit?
Lenny is youngish still PJ. Another guy in the range of Fernando Angulo but prob little less rugged would suit him best. Not a borderline top 10 hard mexican slugger with power. I mean if he wins he will receive all the kudos he deserves from me & a legit world title shot would be on the horizon. Just IMO its a very much throwing Zappa to the wolves sort of risk.
Tend to agree...smart matches and fights he can win and grow as a fighter I would try to hold that belt for as long as possible....another 4 or 5 good fights before taking on the top 10
He hasnt fought any different from the day he turned pro so i doubt we'l be seeing him grow as a fighter. The angulo fight showed zappa's ceiling as a pro. He isnt a top ten fighter, never will be imo. Im guessing shaw and showtime think the same. After angulo, he went back to fighting on a fox card against an overmatched indo. I might be wrong but it seems like they have given him the cold shoulder....certainly not in a rush to put him back on us tv.
I tend to agree with your assessment on him not probably being that top tier fighter however with the right matchmaking he can certainly have some exciting fights & probably at least get a shot at 1 of the legit world titles someday.
Come on mate...if Zappa was offered to you to manage you would tak him in 2 seconds flat and jump for joy
