i dont think world titles fights should be agreed at catchweights. Especially against someone like margarito who has barely ever fought at 154 anyway. Its a bull**** title.
It will be a very entertaining fight. One which is warming to me as time is going on.

As a pac fan though i do find it a bit dodgy that he fought cotto at 145. Then clottey a far easier opponent at 147. Now im positive that had he fought cotto at 147 pac would still have whooped him. But even as a fan you have to ask yourself 'why do it?' at the time roach said oh hes not gonna give away all that natural weight to cotto...yet here we are at 151 against margarito. A larger fighter than cotto

Nope. I KNOW why he would do that, that's just common sense given that Pac is a natural jr. welter at most. What I don't know is why he would allow Margacheato to come in heavy.

If Pac wins easily against Margo, don't be surprised if he faces either P. Will or Martinez at light middleweight. That's just the kind of fighter he is.

Pac fought Clottey at 147 precisely because he was able to gauge his effectiveness against Cotto at 145. If he had faced Clottey first before Cotto, he and Roach would also have asked for a catchweight since Pac was still unproven at welter, and then after winning, he would have had no concerns in facing Cotto at 147. In the same manner, he is fighting Margo at 151 to gauge his effectiveness at light middleweight. If he beats Margo easily at that weight, don't be surprised if he faces Williams or Martinez next at 154.

This is so wrong. Pac is a natural 147, oooops 145, oooops 140 pounder. Wait I thought the haters even were egging him to face JMM ar 135 lbs??? Wow now that is GREATNESS for you. Truly once in a millenium fighter! :deal

i can see your reasoning. And its very possible.

Its also just as plausible that he fought cotto at 145 simply because hes a tougher opponent than clottey? because it kind of looks that way aswel. I guess we will never truly know.
I dont think Pac vs Martinez will ever happen tbh. Pac doesnt really need him. Its also lose/lose for Martinez. Except for the money i guess. If that fight did happen then mad mad respect to Pac!

Pac dismantled Oscar and i may be wrong but wasnt that at 147? I know Oscar weighed in at 145 but the fight was made at 147 if my memory serves me right. But that would have shown Roach to some extent how effective pac is at 147? Also if he wanted to guage his effectiveness at the weight they could have had a tune up fight at 147 before going for a title? Like i said i dont think it would have made a difference to the outcome. But it does look to me like Roach put the 145 limit in because Cotto was a dangerous dangerous opponent

I personally dont agree to catchweight world title fights. For anyone. But hey thats just my opinion

So Pac can claim to be an 8 weight champ without having to beat a championship worthy opponent.

Yeah the Pac DLH fight was at 147 problem was Pac just didn't take enough damage. The catch weight was mainly a gauge of how well Pac could hold up to a true WW punch.

This could be the fight that they regret putting him in for, Pac belongs at 140 max. Might just get a whooping this time around by a much bigger and stronger guy who is happy to walkthrough shots to land his own.
