Before I respond to this idiocy, let me just say that Lewis was a great fighter. However, he is easily the most overrated boxer in modern times. He has benefited immeasureably from being the last great heavyweight. In a matchup against Ali, it really does depend who you are referring to...the old Ali or the young one.

The young Ali would have danced circles around the young Lennox Lewis, who was little more than a one-dimensional right hand power puncher until he met Emmanuel Stewart. As for you assinine assertion that Lewis would outjab Ali. Lewis had a terribly overrated jab. He used it to good effect against smaller opponents who had lousy jabs, like old Holyfield and old Tyson. But do yourself a favor and check out the Mercer fight. Old Ray Mercer outjabbed a prime Lennox Lewis all night long in that fight. And Mercer was shorter than Ali and didn't have a quarter of his speed. There goes your :pissargument.

You are right Hendo, the idea that the level of skill is greater today than in the past is bull****. Whats not bull**** is the undeniable physical superiority that Lennox would have over Ali. With all else being at a comparable level, that makes Lennox the clear favorite.

Well, he's bigger, but he's not faster. I just think this match comes down to styles, and the fact that Lewis could potentially dominate the fight from the outside.

But Ali certainly has the speed and reflexes to offset his advantage in reach. But I think Ali would be best served to make adjustments with his defense going up against an opponent like Lewis who is taller and longer.

I'll go with Lewis on this one, i think people tend to overrate the older generation of fighters....

I can see Ali Taunting Lewis throughtout the fight saying your too slow boy I'm over here then backpedding and hiting him with jabs all night untill he closed his eyes and then went for the kill.
As far as more skilled athletes today that does not hold true in boxing, football yes bigger better Basketball too. Boxing has proven to be in a class all its own the biggest are no always the best ask Nikoli.

Seriously, let's take stock here. There was absolutely no comparison when it came to talent. Ali was world's ahead of Lewis in that department. He (Ali) was the best heavyweight in the world by the time he was 21. Lewis couldn't make that claim until he was in his mid thirties. Was there a particular time and place where Lewis might have possibly, maybe beaten Ali, sure. But for about 90 percent of their collective careers, Ali was a much, much better fighter.

Ali looked good back then because those heavyweights couldn't box and move around the ring. Ali was a lightheavy weight in the amateurs so he brought his boxing skills up in weight with him. Today these boxers can move like lewis eddie chambers spinks larry holmes you guys remembered what he did to Ali. Fighters today can actually box now not like those bums Ali fought. Big george was dumb I guarantee lewis knocks out that Ali that beat foreman lost to joe frazier and the one that beat old sunny

Ali was half the fighter he was when he fought Homes how can you bring uo that fight he was 37 when they fought. A fight that you watched with your eyes closed if you were an Ali fan. Scarry Ali had nothing.
