What Is The Worst Decision You've Ever Seen?

I don't know why a bigger deal isn't made of this one.

Reid dominated every round until about the last 4 when he looked too scared to let his hands go for fear of disqualification (with good reason).

Ottke was complaining about getting punched in the face and the ref was pulling Reid up for it.

A disgrace.

 

Mine have already been named:

Tyrone Everett - Alfredo Escalera (as stated above, I was also trying to be generous but still had it 11-4 Everett)
Lockridge - Gomez
Hagler - Antuefermo

But I just watched on the other day.
Rocky Lockridge - Tony Lopez I
I had Lockridge by 4 points. But Lopez got his usual Arco Arena/Sacramento home cooking and got the decision. It seemed like there were local douchebags stationed at ringside who went berzerk every tme Lopez came within 3 inches of landing a jab. Also, when Lopez was kknocked down in the 8th round, announcer Gil Clancy said "let's see how much time he gets". So I replayed it. From knockdown to completion of the standing 8 count Lopez was given 16 seconds.

 

Oh yeah, another vote for:

Fench - Nelson I
Toney - Tiberi

And also, I don't happen to think Zarate - Pintor was a robbery. I've scored it once for Zarate and years later for Pintor.

 

i second that one, if you include the Pro fights this one still count as a Top 3

Funeka/Guzman I

 

Clinton taking hummers from some fat skank rather than holding out for the quality that is due the most powerful man in the world.

THAT is a wretched decision.

 

Off the top of my head Gavilan-Graham III, which I scored 8-4-3 Graham, Qawi-Ocasio, which I think I gave all 10 rounds to Qawi (would like to see that one again), Lockridge-Gomez is a good call as is Mayweather-Baltazar. The first Curtis Parker-Mustafa Hamsho fight I had 7-3 for Parker. I thought Zarate-Pintor fight was a robbery when I first saw it back when it ocurred (did not score it), but had it much closer when I re-watched it with pen in hand. Still had Zarate the winner but not by much. And of course, one of my pet peeves is Antuofermo-Minter I, which I had 8-5-2 Antuofermo, but I recognise that just as many people had it the other way. Of course the Lewis-Holyfield I, was a thievery and I had Ahumada beating Bob Foster. Can't remember my score but it was in the 8-5 range with a couple even.

Really obscure...but Belinda Lauracuente completely outboxed Christy Martin in every round and lost a decision.

 

Two more I just thought of, Patterson-Ellis and Jesse Burnett-Leon Spinks. Never saw Burnett-Conteh, which was also supposed to be a raw decision, but I think it's on youtube. Have to sit down with pen in hand and have a look.

I can still watch Reid-Ottke purely to hear Jim Neilly calling for Reid to try and ignore 'that fat, mustachioed buffoon in the dicky bow'.

 

Guzman/Funeka I was abysmal.

Penalosa/Tokuyama II was a terrible fight capped off with a terrible decision.

 

Hagler vs Duran

I am in agreement here with Duranimal and Itrymariti that this fight was a robbery. I researched an article earlier(not on boxrec or youtube, but in a library) which states that one of the judges that night was a childhood friend of Goody Petronelli

I also agree with Rockysplitnose in saying that this is a prime case of reverse-racism.

 

well in more recent times the scoring for paul williams-sergio martinez..the judge pierre benoist scoring an absolute seesaw and close battle 119-110 for williamsatsch...a 10-1-1 scorecard.:huh....are you ****ing kidding me? :?im a fan of williams and i had slightly for him 7-5 but i would have been satisfied with even a draw but that score pissed me off big time:fire

 

I don't have masses of knowledge pre-1990, so therefore the two that stand out for me are Whittaker - Chavez and de la Hoya - Trinidad. I actually have the de la Hoya - Trinidad on VHS somewhere from when I was like 9 years old. I don't think I have ever been as gutted in my life when they read out the results to find my idol (who had put on what I still think is one of the most beautiful boxing displays against a top fighter) had lost.
