Hey kid i know your a fan and you know more than most of the old fart casual fans that i know. But your not listening to me, theres a big advantage in having a feel for the game if you were around then. Just like im not gonna sit here and tell some old timer like JG some crazy **** like oh you dont know what ur saying, just cause your older than me dont mean you know so much, i read a lot of books and saw footage:lol:

I guarantee you that you will agree with me 20 years from now when some little smart ass is trying to tell you that you dont know **** about Barrera,Morales,Pac that just cause you were around then dont make you no expert. Think about it this kid is probably hanging from his momas tittie right now, and this little ****er is gonna be telling you that Barrera was a bum cause some weak chinned dude name Junior Jones knocked him out.

My thinking is that Saldivars legacy lost a little luster in losing those 2 fights:-( Not saying its right but that seems to be the case with some.

I totally agree with you Anarci it helps to have been alive in that era...which is why I dont discuss boxing prior to 1970.

I've heard this quote before, that Sanchez beat a "green" Nelson.I've seen that fight(although not in a long time)and Azumah may have been young but he certainly did not fight "green".As far as Gomez is concerned,Gomez was the favorite in that fight. And Gomez had an awesome fight against a terrific Lupe Pintor after the Sanchez fight.

What exactly do you agree with? What exactly have I said? :huh I said that Sanchez' career could have gone one of two ways. I don't need to have been around during his prime to have said that, and I don't need to be a marvel of modern science either. It's filed under common sense. Fans almost take for granted what Salvador Sanchez would have went onto achieve, but all I'm saying, "Who knows?".

I have absolutely no idea what part of Anarci's post applies to me but since you've come out of nowhere and agreed with him, I'd like for you to tell me.

Well why dont you just give me your opinion on what i had to say about the baby whos hanging on his mamas tittie telling you about Barrera,Pac,Morales and the fighters of today? Do you think you will agree with me 20 years from now about a youngster disagreeing with you on todays fighters?

What? :blood I disagree with you on Ricardo Lopez, and he retired in 2001.

I almost see where you're coming from, it can come across as patronizing and insulting that a 21 year old is trying to discuss Boxing with you, someone who was actually around to watch Marco Antonio Barrera fight at The Forum. However, I've never really challenged your knowledge or argued with anything you've had to say to such a degree that it would cause bitterness. We both know we disagree on Lopez, but what else do I try and educate you about? Nothing. It's when I make a post you disagree with, being measured and calm isn't your best trait, so you'll come marching in saying, "What the **** Addie, you're a kid, you watch You Tube, shut the **** up". How exactly am I supposed to respond to that? Thanks superior intellect and Boxing Historian, you're right, I should just go and **** off now. I'll go join a Mixed Martial Arts Forum. That isn't going to happen, Anarci.

:lol: Na you should stay here you make for some interesting threads and posts:good As you Limeys say im just giving you the **** or whatever it is you guys say:lol:
I know you dont really challenge me just agree to disagree from time to time. Actually you admit when not knowing about a certain fighter. Im probably just unfairly including you with other youngsters that try and tell me i dont know.

When I openly admitted to not having a great deal of knowledge about Oscar De La Hoya's career and thus refusing to actually rank him, you were like "Ha, see, you don't know **** all you ****". I mean, what the hell am I supposed to do? There are certain fighters I think I know a fair bit about, and others I don't. Boxing has a long and storied history that's even older than you Anarci, so much to get through, so little time.

Im surprised you dont know much about ODLHs career. Since he is probably the most famous guy not name Tyson to fight in the last 20 years. IMO he was brilliant in his prime and i believe underrated on ESB. Start with his fights early in his career and work your way to more recent times i think youll appreaciate his career more than doing it the other way around. That is why he has become underrated cause a lot of newb cynical haters only watched the downside of his career.

As for history i agree its hard to catch up with everyone, when i was younger i read countless books and magazines(i have thousands) and watched any old fights i possibly could, back then you could only rely on the Espn classic of Caytons collection, video tapes or Cable shows featuring the old timers, since there was no internet back then. You would think i would watch more old timers now with the resources we have , but actually my passion for the watching lot of old fights died down aquite a bitl. I now concentrate on talking and watching fighters from when i started watching 1978 to current. Although occasionly i still like watching fighters from when my dad came up watching back in the 60s,70s since he always talks about watching those guys.
Most of what i know about old timers and turn of the century fights and fighters comes from memory on reading or watching clips way back when.

:good We all have to start somewhere, and you guys have it easy over then in America. I have to stay up to 5am in the morning watching a crappy feed half the time because Sky Sports and other networks here aren't as interested in Boxing as they are Football. That being said, the Internet is amazing for tracking down old fight footage, and most of what I watch is actually DVD, not Youtube.

I definitely need to look more into Oscar De La Hoya. He's had an up and down career during the last decade, and he's not going to be easy to rank considering he had so many controversial fights. He was a wonderful fighter though, and I agree that he's probably underrated. Fight fans are fickle, they only remember what happened yesterday.

Diego Corrales wouldn't make a top 20 list of Meh-hee-cano's.
