All hail the catchweight fights, we've got another one coming!

It seems Paul Williams of more than 10 middleweight fights (boxrec) thought Sergio Martinez was too strong in his debut 160lbs contest last year, therefore demanded a catchweight of 157lbs for the rematch - and refused to sign any kind of deal until he got it! Can you believe the arrogance? Of course that is the weight he came in for the 1st fight, vs. Wright & vs. Kolle as well (neither having a contracted limit under 160), and he feels if it's a weight he can fight comfortable at, why not make it uncomfortable for his opponent? The idea came of course after Martinez expressed that he had problems making 154lbs, and Dan Goossen figured a catchweight could be an advantage for his fighter.

But World Middleweight Champion Martinez worked waaay to hard for the championship to be bothered with these kinds of games and said 'let's have your catchweight'. And if Willams thinks it will benefit him, he's wrong, Martinez' not gonna have any problems making 157, and still gonna walk in at the same weight as if he made 160.

Promoter DiBella says however that this is the last time the Champion was bullied around, an extra motivated Martinez will make this sure inside the ring, where's HE's negotiating. "It's at 157 because we didn't have a choice," DiBella said. "Williams wanted the catch weight. There was an issue on the weight and we gave on the weight. Sergio has just wanted to get back in the ring and wants to be treated like the middleweight champion. He knows what this fight means. He knows it's the last time he will be bullied by anybody in a business sense. That won't happen again if he wins. If he can beat Paul Williams after what he did to Pavlik and the damage he and Williams did to each other in the first fight, people should give him his props and he should be considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world below Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Sergio can establish himself at that level if he can perform in this fight. This is the prime of his career. This fight is everything to him."

This catchweight **** might backfire bigtime, because during all the drama from Williams and Goossen, Martinez was preparing to fire back, and he's pretty good with his guns.

Paul's catchweight demand is ridiculous. I really hope Martinez makes up for what happened to him in the first bout.

That's really stupid for a guy who's willing to join the supersix tournament and said he didn't have a problem fighting at higher weights because that meant he could eat more of what he wanted to eat.

Paul will outwork, out-throw and out-land Sergio "again" as Maravilla wilts down the stretch "again", i'm sure he is expecting to land his power shots at will but a slightly more patient Punisher will negate this, it was a close fight because Paul made it more difficult than it had to be, a little better defence and this will be Unanimous, i don't see Sergio winning this at all, on the cool his could turn into a blowout ala Quitana style.
