First....I'm very excited for this one. Just a great styles match up between two of the very best boxing has. They are looking to make a name for themselves and have a lot to prove.

Last fight was hella close and I do believe the right man won but do understand how some may have scored it for Sergio.

My question for those who are fans of the sport is....what do you think about the catch weight. I know a lot of folks here have expressed that Catch weights are bull**** and don't agree with it.

I for one don't care as long as it allows us to see these kinds of fights. Thoughts?

catch fights are bull****, glad to see the fight go ahead, but whats the point in having weight-classes if ur going to add a catchweight. If u wanna be a champ, beat the best even if they are a little heavier. boxing doesnt just come down to size and weight, 90% of the time its skill and technique.

    still, excited about this fight

I respect that. I'm less impacted by catch weight as long as it gets fights made. But I can respect your stance on this.

don't u think for 1 camp to implement a catchweight they believe it would benefit thiee guy over their opponent, much like manny pacquiao's fights.

IMO if they're fighting for a middleweight title the weight limit should be left at 160lbs.

But, in this case, the catch weight of 157lbs dosn't bother me too much because it dosn't seem to give either guy a big advantage. Both have had most of their fights below 160 anyway, so nobody is deliberately trying to weight drain the other guy like we see with other catch-weight fights.

It may not be a legit "middleweight" fight... but imo it's probably the perfect weight for these guys to get it on. I'm a big fan of both... but I gotta say: WAR MARTINEZ!!!

well i HATE catchweights for world titles. and ironically two of my fave fighters are williams and pacquiao. Catchweights are fine but they shouldnt be for legit titles. But then again these paper titles mean **** all these days. Glad this fight got done

WAR WILLIAMS. time to restore your place as the most feared and respected fighter out there

It sucks.. This is for the undisputed middleweight belt.... Williams has fought at 160 a few times and was signed to fight Pav at the limit... I don't see the point because both guys seem to be able to fight at 54 or 60..

I hate catchweights too, but oh well. Martinez is going to tap that ass American Me style either way.

Possibly....but in the case of Manny he is the one who is moving UP to face BIGGER men. The catch weight for that kind of situation is EXACTLY what catch weights were designed for.

When two fighters from different weight classes... meet at a mutual agreed weight its purpose is to level the playing field so there is not such a BIG disadvantage for the smaller fighter.

It actually assists in allowing a fighter who is looking to move up in weight TIME to acclimate to the new weight.

The Paul and Sergio in my opinion isn't the best use of a catch weight but it doesn't hurt in my opinion. Both men have fought effectively at BOTH divisions so they are mutally agreeing to the terms. I don't see a problem with it. But that's just me.

Though this should be at the middle-weight limit of 160 particularly because this is a title fight, it seems weight classes are becoming more and more useless, i don't understand why it wouldn't be enforced, maybe one or both guys have trouble putting on weight, my guess is it would be Paul but at 6'2 its amazing this dude is so skinny and can't bulk up to about 175lbs let alone 160.

For a World Title? It shouldn't be allowed.

For a title you're 100% correct, but this is boxing. We have something called a diamond belt...come on.

I have no problem with catchweights, but they shouldn't allow World Titles to be on the line if the camps have agreed upon a catchweight which doesn't allow both boxers to come in at the maximum weight the division specifies. They should treat it the same way they do when a boxer comes in overweight for a World Title bout...the title simply is not on the line, but the bout still takes place.

True! I'm a fan so if it's still within the divsion limit I don't have any BIG problems with it...but since it's TITLE fight for the MW crown...They should have it at 160 but i'm not gonna boycott it. I'm a FIGHT FAN! If we can get the BIG names to battle against one anther at the weight limit it's fine...but if it takes a catch weight...so be it.
