Not sure what others thing of Lee around here, but I really like his chances and think he has a bright future in the sport.

I'd be curious to hear what others think of him as a fighter and what he said in the interview.

    :good

Andy Lee is a decent fighter but he doesn't deserve a title fight. Has he beat anyone in the top 15 of any alphabet??

Fight someone decent and then start talking world titles.

Nice one Rummy, I'll check it out later, think he has his fans as well as his naysayers on here, like most fighters really

I would love it, love it, if he could bring a title back. I'd prefer it if he would win it based out of Ireland though.

I'm hopeful of his chances, but he's going to fight it tough, there's a lot of other great prospects going around, and I think Andy still has a few flaws that will go against him.

Thanks Jack. What are your personal views? You think Lee has what it takes in this subpar middleweight landscape?

I think he definitely does, and largely because the middleweight division IS uncharacteristically lacking in marquee names.

I am very interested in seeing his career progress over the next year, in particular. I think we will learn a lot about Andy during that stretch.

He definitely has flaws, but I think all of the middleweight top guns are flawed right now to one extent or another. I like Andy's chances of improving under the guidance of a Hall of Fame trainer who truly seems to believe in his young fighter.

Emanuel Steward is convinced that Lee will win a title, and I think he truly believed that Andy COULD wind up being the next big thing in the weight class.

Time will tell, of course, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this unfolds.

To be honest I've not seen enough of him, but doesn't he have a KO loss on his record already? the Middleweight division is wide open and theres a cracking set of Round Robin fights that the Irish boys could and should be participating in against each other

The more I have seen of Lee the more I like him (he's the same as me being a right-handed southpaw). I still think he will ultimately lose to Barker if they face but who knows (Barry thats your que). I think Macklin would be an excellent fight for Lee right now. He looked poor at the weekend and Lee's style might be tricky for Macklin. Because of the Irish connection with macklin this would be a huge fight for Ireland.

To summise I like Lee (certainly a lot more than I did 6 months ago), but he is largely untested and hasn't faught anyone nudging the top ten. So I find it hard to believe he will get a title shot. This is a position most of the middleweight prospects this side of the Atlantic find themselves in. I mean I can hardly sit here and say Barker has had much better opposition.

Hope that sorts it out a bit.

I predict 10 pages of Barker vs Lee now!!!

Yes, he suffered a KO loss around two years ago against Brian Vera.

Personally, I think Lee would probably dominate Duddy.

I'm not as familiar with Macklin.

Yeah it was to Vera. Aweful loss!!!

If you listen to the OTR's interview he admits his last opponent would have beaten him back then. He does seem to have improved a lot but he is not stepping it up. We'll see wether he can win a title when he starts taking on ranked guys.

Duddy is poor so if he can't dominate him then he can forget about a world title.

Macklin is much better than Duddy but was very poor at the weekend. This may just be because he couldn't get up for the fight as he was hoping for Barker but it was still for the European so he should have been ok.
