How would he cope in todays current heavyweight scene. Against Klitschko's, Haye, an old Holyfield, Eddie Chambers, Valuev, Chageav?

He wouldn't succeed as a heavyweight. He was too small.

He could be a decent cruiserweight if he'd bulk up closer too 200 pounds.

Adamek is a top five Ring-ranked heavyweight.

Marciano was a pitbull. You think any heavyweight today(other than perhaps Wlad) has a realistic chance against a pitbull? No way.

    So what?

Adamek is over 215 pounds, is taller and has much better reach than Rocky.

 Adamek trains up to 215. Marciano, like the good older heavies, trained down to his supposed best weight. If Adamek, Chagaev...ARREOLA, etc, trained down to their most athletically viable weight, there would be much less a difference. Adamek is a former light heavyweight, so what if he's a bit taller and rangier than Marciano...Nothing new to Rocky's actual career. Besides, this is a Marciano thread and you're you. :tong

He'd probably cut weight down to 175 and fight at Light Heavyweight where he'd do serious damage.

Yes I see what you mean, if Arreola and Chagaev trained down they would lose 4 inches in height and inches of their reach

All this 'training down' is BS anyway, he trained to his optimal weight, he isnt suddenly gaining 30lbs of muscle. Wlad/Vitali 'train down' but dont burn off muscle.

Rocky would have to do what Holyfield/Adamek did and eat his way upto 210lbs of lean muscle, and he may have to sacrifice some stamina

He could make 175lbs today, but don't say it too loud, Marciano fans take it as a massive insult for some reason

The green is just a stupid comment. I said specifically that Marciano was used to fighting taller and rangier guys. What was the point of your comment there? Where is the sarcasm directed? And is Chagaev even much taller than Marciano? No.

And no, the training down isn't BS. The Klitschkos, as far as I know, train UP. Emanuel Steward says both Wladimir and Holyfield gained weight in training, by the way. Training to Marciano's perceived optimal weight, would be DOWN from his walk-around weight as far as I know. Do you have a source that says otherwise? And did I imply that he burned off thirty pounds of muscle/or would be thirty or any number of pounds heavier IN MUSCLE? No. I said straight out, and correctly, that a lot of the top guys would at their natural best athletic weight, be closer to Marciano's weight significantly so, not that Marciano burned muscle off at all/was naturally 30 pounds heavier in muscle. I never even implied that, PP.

-Arreola was a light heavyweight Golden Gloves Champion he just got really really fat once he turned pro in two years time. Picking up 60+ lbs of mostly fat and counting.

-At any rate, Rocky wouldn't be cutting weight to chase guys like Charles and Walcott around the ring for 15 round; he would probably add a reasonably healthy 10-15 lbs of muscle to his 190ish frame and compete at heavyweight in all likelyhood. I don't think he would have a problem cleaning out the current top 10 and cashing in on a title shot against Wlad where anything could happen. The greats would exceed in any era.

Marciano has the tools to beat anyone around today, his crouching defence was underrated and he has major power.

  15. I would back Marciano to take out the bigger guys, under rated defense, many of todays fighters don't have a desire to be hit like Marciano did. Seeing Rocky throw consistant violents attacks at Wlad would be a hilarious sight.
