The implication that Marciano is naturally as big or as muscular as Arreola or even the small HWs today is way off base. Even if they were ripped they'd outweigh Marciano and Rocky wasn't ripped himself. As for him being used to taller/rangier guys, well no he isn't used to dealing with 6'7 80inch reach types

If Marciano was 'training down' he was burning off fat, we've seen Marciano in retirement and he was fat so he likely blew up in weight between fights. Plenty of fighters in Marciano's day 'trained up', Charles/Patterson for 2

Anyway a great fighter, who'd either be the best LHW/Cruser or bulk up to be a top HW with serious size disadvantages

    Powerpuncher,

Rocky was pretty ripped. Maybe not bodybuilder sculpted, but the man was built like a rock.

    Where's the fat?

I think he could win a few fights against top ten fighters, but at his size, over say a 7 year career, he would also lose to some fighters one would not suspect he would lose to. The wear and tear of fighting much bigger guys would be evident over the duration. And guys like Sam Peter, Jameel McLine, Calvin Brock, Tony Thompson aren't just fat slobs, they are bigger and stronger than the guys Marciano faced. It's analogous to asking how a Kid Gavilan would do against Arthur Abraham and the like.

I think he can cut 10lbs of water weight, although I don't think he'd like it, I get the feeling the Rock liked his food

An emaciated Marciano knocking out Chad Dawson in 2 rounds is an amusing enough image I suppose.

I mean, let's be real. These men would be crawling and gasping for air after 6 rounds of punch output with Marciano...God help them if they make it to the championship rounds, it only get's worse and worse for them.

He's certainly in shape, its just the bodyfat isn't that low. Who's the fight against?

In green: Which is why I DIDN'T IMPLY IT. :patsch Read what I wrote. I said their weights would be SIGNIFICANTLY CLOSER to each other than what you see on paper because of useless, unnecessary bulk. Their natural weights would be significantly closer. Not the same. I never said that.

In blue: Charles and Patterson were light heavies by nature though.

Further, I didn't say he was used to dealing with 6'7 and 80inch reach fighters. Why do you keep putting words into my mouth? I was addressing SOME of the top guys like Chagaev and Adamek, who have the height and reach that he certainly was used to dealing with.

Marciano could of made LHW without sacrificing much.

People really under estimate how much you can lose in water weight. Rocky could of kept his diet and everything the same but simply ran off ten pounds (not a hard task when the weigh in is a day before)

Marciano fought very infrequently in contrast to his peers of the 50s. I suspect in today's scene he would do so as well.

This is also an era where you have fighters like Povetkin breaking into the top 5 and fighting former Champions with just 13 fights under their belt. I don't think Marciano would have to squeeze 20+ fights into three years to get noticed like he did in his own time.

He'd thunderstomp Haye in 5 rounds. He'd probably get jabbed to **** by Wlad but catch him eventually. Vitali would be an UGLY brawl and Marciano may get stopped on cuts or standing TKO or something, too big and too tough to knock out.

he would be the first to KO Sugar Nikolai Valuev, with body shots, early! Quote me on that

This is at the end of the LaStarza rematch, an event for which it has been speculated he might have overtrained.

He could beat everybody not named Klitschko. That means that he would be a belt holder today and not the champion. He would rule 175 (if makes the weight) and 200. He would be probably the first boxer to capture belts in all 175, 200 and HW division.

let me get this right? some of you are saying marciano is a **** cruiserweight/light heavyweight? .. hmm defeating 2 of the all time greats in those divisions must mean he'll get ko'd by wlad any day of the week... nice work!
