Henry Castle (yes, that ****) was asked who his toughest opponent was and he said "Jimmy Beech was a tough fighter for an early fight"

he also went toe-to-toe with Michael Gomez for a few rounds, which gave Alex Arthur miss-placed confidence going up to that fight.

also handed Billy Corcoran his first loss.

what also made his fights exciting was not only his willingness to fight but also his fragile chin.

give it up for mister Beech, if you have a chance to check out any of his old fights, don't miss out.

I've always been a big fan of Booth, true pro, funny guy (we all know the "this isn't a pantomime" story right?)

yeah people were giving him crap for his record when he fought Haye... I had to butt in and go "no-one else would fight Haye, so Booth stepped in, he fought Roman Greenberg just a week before, journeyman don't get months to train!"

I remember Booth talking about how he thought Calzaghe was a boring slapper(as they all do), then sparred with him, and took it back ,saying "**** me he hits hard!" (as they all do)

 

damn right it is, if you don't have the power and boxing pedigree of Haye he could take you out.

yeah the pantomime joke was in that contender documentary. lol ,one of Booths friends(in front of him,joking): "What would you wanna keep boxing for?..He's just a big punchbag isn't he"

the fact that Booth can laugh at that shows what a gent he is and how he doesn't take himself seriously.
