Groves has changed a lot. If I didn't know that was Groves, I wouldn't know... that's... Groves. Hmmm, something definitely went wrong in that sentence :huh
It's hard. A lot of Degales shots were wide, but they looked flashy. Groves definitely landed the better shots in the last two rounds once he worked Degale's position and distance out. Plus he actually went to the body. But, I see the same flaws in both of them now that they had then. Degale throws light, slapping shots. He opens up too long and puts his chin in the air. He walks into shots a few times because he's misjudged where the opponent's punching. Groves tends to think too much before firing his shots. he gets over anxious and steps in, rather than drawing a shot and stepping back so the opponent over extends, ready for an uppercut. A lot for either guy to take advantage of. But we haven't seen either guy in against someone who'll test them yet.
Watched this just after they turned pro and I had De Gale winning also, As much as I would like to see this fight happen I believe it would be a vary scrappy afair, i dont see they're styles meshing at all, to me they are both just very gifted novices. Both guys need more fights like the guy groves just beat in Vegas,
Am I missing something? Isn't amateur boxing scored on clean punches not rounds? Why are some people saying "Groves won the last 2 rounds" etc...
no way does degale do worse than 2 rds all. obviously this is done on the amateur points scoring. but scoring on rds degale more than holds his own here. :bbb
i suppose the fact they are both now pro's is the reason. everyone hates the amateur scoring system anyway don't they. :yep
